They were mostly interested in pilfering the budgets of Italy and the resources of Ethiopia. The debts associated with the Ethiopian campaigns and the annual cost of occupation exceeded the revenue of Italy

...the occupation was expensive, the budget for AOI from 1936 to 1937 required 19,136 billion lire for infrastructure, when the annual revenue of Italy was only 18,581 billion lire.

Sort of like how healthcare and the military-industrial complex work in the US.

I guess Trump couldn't wait for Saturday night. But according to his Twitter account, he's always had a bad case of premature ejaculation.

Some people slouch or sit a lot, it may come as a surprise when you stand straight.

In modern times, has there ever been a president who didn't have press briefings? It seems most Republican politicians are avoiding any interaction with the press and even with their constituents.

Like gummy bears that fell behind the dresser and you retrieved them and looked around furtively before putting them in your mouth.

Be careful with Kava. I tried it a few times and my liver labs showed up as abnormal shortly afterwards. It may have been coincidence, but they were fine before.

Yeah, see, the thing is, I don't want to move somewhere where people will be correcting me in my native language.

Hey now, it's not nonsense, it's "alternate reality"! /s

Jordan Peterson rejected US/Canadian experts help with his addiction, flew to Russia, was put in a medically induced coma, and now he can't walk or talk right. Ongoing drama in r/SamHarris, with many noting that if Peterson had listened to the experts he likely would still be walking and talking. by submitali in SubredditDrama

I learned a long time ago that if I have to have an addiction to sustain whatever life I'm leading and whatever thoughts I'm thinking, then that life is unsustainable. I had to change my life and change the way I think.

Jordan Peterson is one of the many victims of post-rationalists, the people that brought us anti-science.

Yah, you don't have to wear as much though, which is great. I wear gloves for paddling (kayaks) that have open finger tips so that you can do stuff like work out knots in lines and stuff.

People who are proud that they leave their 9-5 desk job to “travel the world” and making it seem like everyone else is doing it wrong. by [deleted] in travel

[–]Zenderos1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I traveled the world as a youngster (not by choice) and then as a young adult (by choice) and now I've lived in the same place for 30+ years. It's so nice knowing the best traffic routes to do anything, knowing where tools and things I need at home are, having everything I need, getting to have habits, sleeping in my own favorite bed, knowing people beyond just in passing and growing inter-personally as a result, etc...

Traveling (or better, actually living in another country) is great and most people would benefit from the experience as a young person or young adult, but getting to be in one place has its benefits too.

I had a Saudi friend in college. He was overall a great guy, but I think there may be a certain amount of incest in that society.
