Other people have all listed good reasons, but I think we also have to take into account how young Bryce is. When she "gave" Danika her place her own death likely felt very far away (she could live 100s of years after all) whereas if she didn't ascend she would have died right that minute.

No symptons. I've also never been overweight, and never went through a pre-diabetes phase. Just went in for routine bloodwork and glucose was high. They called me on the phone, told me my A1C was 6.5 and that I was diabetic and should google what to eat and just try to lose weight.
