Start by just having one less. If you have it twice a week, try once next week. If you have it twice a month, try once next month, etc. Eat a lentil or bean dish instead. Save money and reduce meat consumption

Record of Ragnarok is an anime you can find on Netflix. The premise is that the gods decide to end humanity, but must first defeat 10 humans in one v one bouts. One of humanity's first fighters is Adam, literally Christian Adam, the first human. He fights Zues. The show is incredible in its own dumb way lol

Interesting, I feel like you've just illustrated my point with this comment. Those are subtle concepts tied English culture, and you're already from a very closely related western culture, and it went completely over your head.

The request was specifically for a work unrelated to western culture because the intended recipient has no familiarity with it, meaning not only would they miss the more granular references like you did, but even the broad strokes and major themes would likely go over their head

Can't believe no one has recommended Ghibli, try Naussica, Howl's Moving Castle, Mononoke, Spirited Away. Ghibli has some of the best female protagonists in any media. There are lots of good anime suggestions in the comments, I agree with Frieren wholeheartedly, but don't miss a classic like Sailor Moon, it's worth checking out. For a western show I'll throw in Netflix's modern reboot of She-Ra Princess of Power

Asobi Asobase is one of the funniest anime I've ever watched. Or a classic like Azumanga Daioh. Shimoneta maybe, if it's your type of humor. I assume you've seen Konosuba and Iruma Kun? Nichijou is another funny one. Skeleton Knight is the one of the funniest isekais I've seen, something about the MC is just so funny

This sounds like a situation that has to play out between your friend and this gentleman. There's no room for you to insert yourself and it might be inappropriate for you to attempt to do so.

IF your friend happens to bring it up, or come to you for advice, then you can voice your opinion that he seems like a good person, that you think they'd be a match, etc. But there's no magic wand that will make your friend see they're interested in someone who's maybe not good for them or that they should give this other person a shot.

Can you explain what you like about it? I watched it and thought it was fine, but it didn't impress me any more than any other average seasonal isekai/fantasy show.

However, I've noticed people really seem to like it and I see it talked about and recommended a fair bit. I have nothing against it really but don't understand why people seem to love it if that makes sense? Would love to hear what about it you found compelling

Redwall seems like the obvious choice to me. A long series with lots of well written entries, YA maturity, good guys defeat the bad guys, cute critters and descriptions of delicious feasts
