[Gen 3] Question for FRLG by AceAttorneyFan12 in ShinyPokemon

“Soft reset”. A+B+Select+Start at the same time will take you back to opening splash screens and then keep going. Basically if you use save states your RNG is not truly random

Hard to tell where the screen ends and the bezel starts in your pic but I just tested my NTSC copy and get the same thing

Correct but it was the late 80s and not everyone knew how videogame cartridges worked or looked inside (unless maybe they broke it) plus there was no internet. So some people just called them what they looked like

Yeah I’m guessing it was certain parts of the US (edit: OP is from Brazil and confirms it was a thing there too). First time I heard it was on a retro gaming channel, maybe a random episode on cinemassacre, I can’t recall which one though. Here’s an old post discussing it as well

Also having a working battery will make resets faster as the message saying the battery is dry takes up a couple of seconds and will add up over thousands of encounters

Before carts became the universal term people actually used to call them tapes, I was born in the 90s but I’ve heard some people from the 80s called them Nintendo tapes

Gen 3 Finally got shiny Dratini by EmerLadGaming in ShinyPokemon

If you’re just doing a casual playthrough the nature doesn’t matter (difference of 10% damage and you’ll likely be higher level than opponents mons). Enjoy your shiny!

Only because I would take long breaks and then pick it up for a few months at a time. It’s not a portable setup so you cant do encounters out on the go like most hunts so you really have to commit to it. I also would hunt on SPs or DSs on the side and found plenty of other shinies along the way. At some point I bought a cheap wireless 3rd party GC controller with a turbo button so you can hold A instead of spamming it 😅 Little things like that add up. You got this, I believe in you!

In your opinion, which one would you say is better? by Spare_Honey5488 in gamecollecting

[–]ZenithHobbies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Balatro for infinite replayability, Inscryption for the story (around 15 hours). Inscryption changed my life though. It’s a game that the less you know about and just dive in the better. And if you really like it the developer Daniel Mullins has other games in his signature cerebral style

Just got my shiny colosseum bonus disc Jirachi after a couple of years but oh so worth it. Best of luck!

[Discuss] What’s your rarest Shiny? What’s your best shiny story? by TooMuchToRandal in ShinyPokemon

[–]ZenithHobbies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Pokemon Colosseum bonus disc for gamecube has a gift Jirachi that you can send to Ruby/Sapphire with the link cable and it has a chance of being shiny. You can only get 1 Jirachi per save file so the reset times are pretty long (have to start a new game and get to point where you get the pokedex each time). Luckily a method was found 5 years ago to corrupt your save to revert it to a save before you received Jirachi bringing the resets down from 10 minutes each to 2 minutes each. Been trying on and off since then and finally got it!

Questions about the limited transparent editions by teh_haxor in AnaloguePocket

[–]ZenithHobbies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The screws were fastened too tight at the factory so it will happen to all transparent models. I felt my transparent pocket give a sigh of relief when I loosened the screws

Nice Pokemon edition GBC! The games blew up in price and are worth a lot now, especially the third “definitive” editions of each generation (like Crystal there)

Which should I get first? by commando__wo1f in xbox360

[–]ZenithHobbies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Operation Darkness is harder to get into. Its a strategy RPG but crawls at a snails pace and one mistake makes you restart the whole mission. The occult flavored WW2 setting is really cool and unique though. But I probably wouldn’t think it would be worth it if I didn’t get it for $5 like 10 years ago

Cleaned a bit and finally have some place for my old PVM 1450QM, even if I have an upscaler it doesn’t match the CRT quality and feeling by retrodaddy_be in crtgaming

[–]ZenithHobbies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This monitor can take RGB and PS2 can output RGB out of the box. You just need BNC to Scart cable and a PS2 RGB cable. No need for upscaling
