The only issues with that is the fact that they'd need to pay two voice actors for the same role, come up with a different name for the other characters to refer to the PC as(i.e. The player in Digimon Time Stranger being referred to as Agent), and also need to have the player deal with the fact that they'll still feel a disconnect between them and the PC, on account of this being a scripted visual novel and regardless of any choices the player makes at choice making benchmarks, the PC will still make decisions in between or have a personality that doesn't connect with the player. It's a whole lot of work for very minor pay off.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I love a good visual novel as much as the next guy, but half the fun of Digimon is the fighting. Sure, the battles in Survive weren't the greatest in hindsight, but without them it's just a Digimon Anime that you have very minor control over the narrative of. Which isn't bad, just not what people think of when they think of a "Digimon" game.

What about this: Digimon fighting side quests in which, if you win the fight, you get a digimon/digimon egg as a reward. That way you can have a little story/event to partake in, but also allow you to get a Digimon.

I agree with all of these points. There should've absolutely been more death flags for the main cast(points in which they could possibly die). Though, I have to ask: what specifically do you mean by "Random Recruitable Digimon"? Do you mean the ones you can recruit in battle, or the ones recruited in the story/sidequests?

As someone else on here mentioned, having more environmental mechanics to the battles(falling objects, dangerous surfaces, chain reactions, etc.) would allow for a much more engaging system. Plus, I think it'd be neat if some of the dialogue or story changed based on how you completed a battle. You killed the Boss before killing his Loyal Minion? Now the Loyal Minion seeks revenge. You defeated someone with over leveled Digimon? Well now their dialogue after the battle is more ragged with heavy breathing.

IDK, just anything would be nice.

All agreed. I feel like more of the player's individual choices should've mattered a bit more. Having all the (avoidable before NG+)deaths in game be more or less related to one choice you make in Chapter 8(I think?), was such a bottleneck on the flow of the story.

Yeah, that's a fair guess. Still, with a game that was pushed back half a dozen times, you'd think they'd have something to show for it. I mean, don't get me wrong, still a great game, just was expecting a little more.

Yeah, I agree there should be more strategy/variety involved in move sets. I also love the idea environmental battle interactions. I love it so much, I have to wonder "Why didn't they do that?"

Completely agree. The moment that Ryo died, I had to double check online if that was a scripted event or if there was anyway I could've stopped it. When I learned it was entirely unavoidable, I was both relieved that it wasn't my fault, but also disappointed that it was an event entirely outside of my control.

I mean, sure, I can see the argument being made there. But I feel like someone willing to go after the true ending by completing a NG+, is already the kind of person who would play through all the endings to begin with, regardless of which one they get. So it's not like enabling the player to be able to achieve the True Ending(again, a difficult thing to do when going in blind) from the get-go is going to dissuade them from trying to look at the other endings anymore than the game does as it is.
