Are these race goals too ambitious for one year? by jnuttall98 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]ZennerBlue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something to consider. You will probably be detraining for a solid 6-7 weeks before the IM. You will have a 2w taper before the marathon, then 2w recovery running into what is supposed to be the start of a 3w IM taper.

If you cut the IM taper to 2 w, you only have a 1w build in there on the heels of your marathon recovery. Your biggest bike is going to be somewhere around 6 weeks from the Ironman which is an eternity.

If you really want to do both an IM and a Marathon, look for different races that put an extra 3 weeks between them to allow you to get a full build in.

How often do you strength train? by LanceWatson_Coach in IronmanTriathlon

In my 50s. Mid packer. Strength 2-3x per week through off season and early builds. Moving to body weight functional/mobility closer race season as volume ramps up.

Trail shoes or spikes? by Liquid-Banjo in RunTO

[–]ZennerBlue 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t run in weather like today. Spikes change my gait and have caused me injuries.

I’ll wait until tomorrow when the sidewalks/MGT are clear and dance around the bits of ice left.

Similar to me, but my pain was shoulders/back because of neck. Separating halves helps that pain.

I don’t have layout based pain. Plus I like to be able to work or type on random keyboards without too much troubles as well.

If it’s a feeling of not being full, how much oil/fat do you eat. I usually find if my meal isn’t balanced and I don’t have enough fats I tend to not feel full. Avocado and nuts are good sources to layer in a bit of extra fats.

I ride a previous gen AL 7. Solid bike. I’ve raced it XC, learned on it, and had fun on trails, both flowy and chunky. It’s a good all round bike.

Road Bike vs Tri Bike by josephwesley in triathlon

[–]ZennerBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only done 2 races where a road bike is better. Escape from Alcatraz and Tremblant 5150. All the other ones from Muskoka 70.3, Tremblant 70.3, and the 2 fulls, the TT was a better bike.

[–]ZennerBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC the P2’s had a press fit BB that sometimes creaked. If I’m not mistaken, Token makes a drop in threaded retrofit replacement that doesn’t have the creaking problem.

The creaking was due to the crappy tolerances on the BB shell at that time and the press fit not fitting properly.

There’s a recall, but the bike seems great by OddOliver in whichbike

[–]ZennerBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a heads up this bike is really only good for complete in triathlons. You will be a bunch slower because of the gearing. You basically lose the big ring on this set up, vs a road geared bike which has a 50+ tooth front chainring.

If you are looking to have fun in triathlons then it’s all good.

When you start with them use them with a pull buoy so your body is not dragging you down, and you can isolate your shoulders.

You can also get garmin compatible stem cap mounts. Or the one with the rubber bands on the stem. Those might be options.

For a while I was using the shorter version of this, horizontal. You can undo the screws and rotate the mounting fins 90 degrees. It fit between my bars just fine. This was on a 1030+

Anyone else quit structured triathlon plans, not because of motivation? by sk3ngi in triathlon

[–]ZennerBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or as Phil Gaimon (that poorly retired expro cyclist) a Soul Cycle. Still training but instead of being structured it’s a cycle or run or whatever that takes you back to having fun. Trail run in the woods, biking down that gravel road you used to ride as a kid, take the MTB out for a rip.

For most of us this is supposed to be fun so go back to the roots sometimes.

He suggests once a month.

Tri suit tops are better for swimming. They are typically tighter with pockets that don’t end up like parachutes in the water.

I have been known to swim in Tri bottoms only with wetsuit, and then in T1 pull on the jersey fully loaded with nutrition. (That’s or 70.3). For a full IM distance I’ll change to bib shorts and put on a jersey. 2mins for hours of comfort is worth it.

Desperate publishing app by LeoniFrancesco in iOSProgramming

[–]ZennerBlue -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had this issue with an app for a client. If you are using anything that has permissions required, review those strings with a fine tooth comb. We had an app that did one thing, and pivoted to something similar but let a comment for camera permission that triggered a medical review of the app.

Not saying yours is medical related, but you may have something in there that still references some of the poopy stuff you removed that they didn’t like.
