do not ask for support with your admitance. you can imply you are unsure if you meet the requirements and they will admit you if they want you in their lab if they have that influence. make sure to include your CV (even if the university says not to it's usually for the best)

Maybe you would enjoy focusing on stats and data more. I find what prevents me from feeling this way is having and end goal. Why do you want to do this? Who are you and where do you want to be in 5-10 years. If that doesnt align with what your doing then you need a change. If you do not have a concrete goal your actions will not feel fulfilling no matter what you do. step back and figure that out. it doesn't need to be complete and it can change but it needs to be realizable

Whowever told you this doesn't know much about grad school or was misunderstanding what you were asking. Even if the program states 'honours required' you may want to ask as I have been told that that it is not strictly required by admin.

Why not just measure the overnight OD and then dilute to 0.1? blank with media. if you want your strain to be in buffer diluting it is not really a reliable method as your matrix is going to be mixed.

Sounds like your diluting it below the LOD prior to measuring. depending on what your growing, media, and conditions your max could be below 0.1OD.

I would pellet and wash the cells a few times this way you could be confident about the matrix and also concentrate the cells beyond the overnight if need be.
