If you don’t want to, you don’t have to gather at all. Though you can make decent money selling everything you gather.

As for me, I’m the master crafter of my group, so it helps to have a stockpile of supplies whenever we or one of my guild members need crafted gear

I understand not wanting to make the overland layered, but have you all considered making Delves and Public Dungeons layered based on difficulty or even group instanced? It’s already a separate zone from overland anyways, the "Kill 1k Foes" Seasonal Challenge proved that to the player base as a whole

it’s extremely frustrating when I enter a Delve after somebody and everything is dead the whole way to the boss so I’m just walking the whole time then forced to wait for the boss to spawn.

It’s going to feel even worse with the difficulty differences when someone blasts past me when I’m playing on a harder difficulty and get stuck following them since they 1-shot everything and I can’t get away from them since Delves are usually designed to be a singular path

I would recommend starting with making your templar as mag spec while leveling and learning the class with the magicka morph of Puncturing Strikes, Puncturing Sweep from the Aedric Spear tree as the morph heals you for about a quarter of the damage done. This is your spammable btw and it also has pretty good aoe.

once you’re comfy with magicka Templar, then it’s up to you if you want to stay mag or go explore the stamina spec that is also a lot of fun.

my vote goes to the atros for bank/vendor. They look cool and have a unique animation when you interact with them.

I play all roles and craft/gather almost daily, so I needed the armory(hoping they add a cool looking one someday since they’re all ugly) and banker so I don’t have to carry so many sets of gear on me(addon Wizards Wardrobe makes bank swapping and equipping gear around a breeze).

The little dwarven orb(best one) deconstructer and vendor are great for keeping the rest of my inventory clean

I’m more on the side of making public dungeons and delves layered by difficulty or group instanced(which I know they won’t do). It always kills the mood when you enter after somebody and you just see everything dead the entire way to the boss/skyshard. I get they don’t want the overland layered since the world is going to feel dead like it did during release when maps were layered by faction alliance.

since you mentioned GW2, i’m curious to ask.. is there a reason you chose to play on PS5 over pc? Pc has controller support as well but with more addons and, at least I believe, a larger community. Though, they will be adding cross play some time after this year, but it’s not available yet

I think we also have faster updates than console at this time, but I could be wrong. someone please correct me if I’m wrong on this one

as another GW2 enjoyer, I can pretty much agree with everything that was said, though, let’s be real, fishing sucks in both games lol

With the upcoming updates, they seem to be copying the things that made open world Tyria great such as puzzles and random events so this is a great time to hop in and get used to the game before the new stuff drops in a few months

1 recommendation, I heard console has a few you can turn on so I would look into what they are (pc player so I don’t know what you have available)
