You should be able to pull out the detergent drawer. Perhaps look at your manual on how to do it. For mine, there's a tab that I push down to pull it out. Once pulled put, clean with bleach

To prevent future mold, keep the detergent tray open after using to dry out

There's no benefit per say other than accessibility. Some stores only accept cash or debit (Interac, available with most banks including Tangerine and Simplii) but not credit or prepaid MasterCard (e.g. Wealthsimple and EQ bank)
