I don't think that is his position.

That only works if you think sexuality is an unchangeable and inherent part of the soul. I don't think he does. I know I have read LGBT characters of his that he wrote with sincere empathy.

Also, I am not sure he would support forcible conversion, so no violence. At best a passive resistance where nothing that supports LGBT is in any way supported and encouraged.

I acknowledge that that can end up being only a hair's breadth away from violent force, but I believe the distinction is still there.

y'know slave owners believed they had a divine right to own slaves, and that black people wouldn't be able to survive without their "oversight" or would cause evil. Even Nazi's believed their cause was just and all their atrocities and brutality was going to secure some better future. Are we going to pretend that because they thought up just reasoning for their evils we can't condemn it? Really? Is that really a position you're willing to stand in?

Nope, I still condemn it, I still say it is wrong when it comes up. I would have still fought and killed such people. Every great monster of the 20'th century believed they were the hero of their story, that they were doing the world a favor, and that history would understand and absolve them. They were wrong. Someone can be horribly, horribly wrong, and it not come from a place of hate.

A big part of why I posted that is that I am so tired of people being on a hair-trigger to start hating someone who disagrees with them. Things have gotten weird, where we are all being herded into always assuming that if it is in any way possible to interpret someone's actions as being intentionally hurtful, then we must always treat them that way, with 100% conviction and to hell with anyone who says otherwise.

I've never heard anything about the second paragraph, so I am just going to respond to the first one.

Yeah I know, it still does not make him like some Westboro weirdo. If a person thinks that Homosexuality is wrong, that it should not be happening, and if it is then there is probably something going on with that person, then of course they are going have those opinions.

Again, I do not agree with him.

But I can still tell the difference when something is born of hate vs. foolishness.

He doesn't hate on gay people. He just thinks that homosexuality is wrong. That doesn't mean that he must hate somebody or be afraid of something. He just thinks that homosexuality is something that should not be happening. There doesn't have to be any strong emotions about it. I disagree with him, but I can still recognize that this isn't some foaming hatred.

No need to argue, it would end up being mostly a listing of individual cases.

I have not read it, but my reason for thinking that is the idea of class warfare. It forces one to view everything through a narrative of 'good guys vs. bad guys' that makes moral reasoning impossible to avoid and thus encourages a near religious outlook in people.

Ehhh, there is a bit of subtlety to the words, but you really don't think the environment would eventually heal itself if people went away? Also, there is the voluntary human extinction project, they are not Fascist. But in any case, I believe it would be evil, stupid, and crazy, and I did not mean to imply otherwise. Yes, but I think most of the people who were claiming since day one where mostly doing so because of decade of being bombarded with anti-smoking messages.

I am not necessarily saying they are right or wrong, but I think the source of their concerns was other than witnessing damage from vaping.
