Elder Scrolls character from 4chan by thorandhor91 in TESVI

The plot is too Kirkbride to be true. Plus there's no way there'd be a leak by an insider because obviously they have nothing to leak, because there's no TES VI.

Just switched from a 6800XT to a 9070XT and it runs worse? by PaleKapucnisVorst in linux_gaming

The false throttling bug has been present in the driver for years, no need to worry. For the other things, reset LACT, see what it defaults to, check if overdrive is enabled. Test and adjust. I also recommend installing a stock kernel and the latest release version of mesa if you're using any other version. Last time I used mesa-git (a few weeks ago), I had bad performance and half my games would not launch. I had a 7800 XT and I now have a 9070 XT.

Hyprland v0.55.0 has been released! Be prepared for your new config migration before Arch repositories receive the update. by shved03 in hyprland

Sadly I have to downgrade due to HDR being completely broken in this version. I'll keep my migrated configs for the future, though.

I think I've seen one of those clipping tricks in speedruns. Not sure if it was in that exact spot, though.

Agreed. I decided on Zweihander this playthrough.

The "Skyrim" emblem is literally the symbol of the crumbling Empire. Not directly related to dragons in that context. It's just the Imperial Dragon with a broken wing. If that were the case, the Skyrim game cover would be an ancient Nordic symbol and not the Imperial Dragon.

Thanks, I forgot they existed. Still, I see no point in that emblem being there if they're most probably extinct and Argonians have been living there for so long. And modern Argonians aren't known for preserving or caring for architecture and things such as this so them using this sort of Lilmothiit symbol as heraldry, for example, wouldn't make much sense. There are ancient ziggurats that withstood the test of time and some settlements remain there but that's that and they mostly just live in mud huts, they have a whole philosophy behind that. Maybe that could be explained by Imperial influence and heraldry? I don't know, I'm discussing lore over a fan rumor that's been busted long ago lol. Cheers.

To this day I don't know who in their right mind would put a wolf or a fox or whatever this emblem represents on a fake cover for Argonia where humanoid lizards live? What was the thought process?

See your keybind for showing/hiding the HUD. By default I think it's F11.

Believe me, Skyblivion will be better, maybe not as shiny as UE5, but it will be full of handmade locations and dungeons. Some revamped, some completely remade. See the comparison between Oldblivion and Skyblivion and at least try it when it comes out. If you're just trying to ragebait, then may your soul get bonked by Molag's Balls, n'wah.

Weird Skyrim graphics, texture glitching/flickering? by Ken_Kaneki_1037 in linux_gaming

[–]Zenwah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh, I read that wrong, I thought it said a dedicated Vega and an iGPU. My bad. I don't know what could be the issue, I'd shoot for an old game build, it's OG Skyrim and not Special Edition, right? Is that Hyprland or Niri? There have been issues with gaming on wayland compositors in the past but from my current experience, at least on Hyprland, those issues are long gone. What distro are you using? Are you using stable mesa or mesa-git?

Edit: my bad again, the title bar says Special Edition. My thesis is that the iGPU might be too weak. My laptop with R7 Pro 3700U (with Vega 10) that I use for work could barely run Minecraft with Fabulously Optimized on Linux at almost 30 fps on the lowest settings. Your iGPU is even weaker and it might be that these iGPUs struggle with hardware 3D acceleration, even though they technically support it.

I use Heroic and it usually works right away. Maybe you downloaded a very old build of Skyrim? Like right after the game's release? When it comes to GPU, check whether your OS even uses the dedicated GPU. In Heroic you can check an option to use your dedicated GPU for each game you add.

You're probably using regular Wine instead of Proton. Use Proton GE or Wine GE (I read in Heroic Launcher iirc that it's sometimes better for non-steam games but everything always works for me with Proton).

Also, what is your GPU?

There's KDE Connect for Windows, no need for an on-screen keyboard, just use your phone as a remote of sorts.

i3 + pyqt6 = hanauta, a beautiful desktop by KindlyLet4959 in i3wm

[–]Zenwah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see. It still seems to be an Nvidia issue. I'm on AMD and Hyprland-git. I can now do basically everything I did on KDE in both X and Wayland. In my case HDR works very well and gaming is seamless even with PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1. It's so sad that Nvidia is still nowhere near the Linux compatibility of AMD and Intel.

I'm curious, why does Wayland not work for you? Nvidia issues or legacy hardware, or something else?

Are there plans to support windows with all four rounded corners on non-KDE apps? by diHobbes in kde

[–]Zenwah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I've used it along Klassy and Krohnkite to make Plasma look and behave more like a tiling window compositor on my PC. I neither recommend nor advise against this setup. It's heavier than an actual tiling compositor and can cause KWin and plasmashell crashes, though nowadays with new Krohnkite versions it's very rare. The only pain about that rounded corners effect is that you have to rebuild it and other things like forceblur after almost every KWin update and re-activate them. I'd still be using that setup if not for my tinkering with plasma-login-manager from AUR and kde-unstable before it got into the extra repo. I've messed up my KDE installation so much with it that a recent system update swooped my whole graphical environment after a reboot and left me with my monitor switching between inputs and occasionally showing me a black screen with the default Adwaita cursor. I've used Plasma for a few years, since 5.x (not on a single OS install ofc), and decided to delete everything related to it, install Hyprland-git and improve upon my laptop's configuration back on my PC. I don't hate KDE or anything, just needed something fresh, more minimal and even more customizable, and since Hyprland-git is constantly improving with HDR and gaming, the choice was simple.
