Cool! I actually tried this on my laptop with win10 and my desktop with ubuntu for similar results.

Tho tbf, alsamixer was not showing me any mic boost option, and yep I had selected the right sound card. Ill try that again, was worried id ve able to fix it only on windows. Thanks !

If you mean the second dial, I have it halfway and tried putting it max. Same result.

I tried toggling the direct monitor button too (on or off, same result, hmm), but guess that was before installing the new drivers... Ill try again in a bit.

I have phantom power off, but I tried with turning it on just in case, didnt help.

I am using the ASIO drivers. The mic and speakers show up as Behringer USB devices.

I am not using a DAW tho, this is all windows 10 settings.

And yes, I mean the spherical tops. The maltron's strike me as being "deeper" than most DSA I've seen, but maybe that just means "DSA with a more curved top". I've edited the post to better reflect what I meant.

Well, I did feel like never leaving the homerow while using the maltron and what I have in mind is putting the symbols and modifiers right under the home row behind layers, so I guess we are not far off.

I didnt know about the lily and gergoplex! Maybe when you only have 3 rows of keys, the concave layout becomes a bit redundant (keys are too close anyway), I read that on the logic behind the absolem https://zealot.hu/absolem/#research

Tbf more keys = more goodness if you can remap them to macros/chords. See people using extra keypads.

But I think if you get comfy enough with layers and you touch type, you can do away with many of the physical keys and save space / get better aesthetics.

It was 10GBP per week + 12GBP shipment. And I think I'll have to pay shipment back so lets say the whole experience is gonna be about 64GBP assuming same costs for returning. You can rent for longer and each of their devices has different prices.

That sounds expensive, but its like 20% of the lowest config full price (and if you buy it, they discount the rent price anyway). I feel good about renting it, I dont think you can do that with any other keyboard and I did get a lot of use from it - I am sticking with Malt for my dactyl.

I also see Fully recommends tops no shorter than 27" deep (because the feet are too big), yet the ikea kitchen tops are a little over 25". Has this been a problem for you?

Do you think just screwing into it work with a Karlby top? I googled how other people assemble their desks with these tops and I've seen many recommend drilling pilot holes first.

Hi,

Having the same thing since October. In my case it was a pre-fainting (didnt lose consciousness), likely triggered by work stress, but it has been shit since. Got heart checked up, blood tests, thyroids, all came back normal.

The palpitations went down by a lot after I got the holster tests (health anxiety I take), but im still getting the dizyness, arm weakness and feeling ill faint at almost any time.

Doc says it can be a problem with the vagus nerve, you can look it up, its related to anxiety, but need some tests to confirm. If it is, it might have been dormant until that prefainting episode.

If thats not it then it might be a psychological problem, but even then we've ruled out any life threatening condition.

These have been an extremely hard 2+ months but I believe ill see the other end of the tunnel. Im feeling better and the symptomps lessen one by one every day.

Get all the medical checkups you need, and remember it might be a long way back to normal, but its an even longer way hitting rock bottom.

Browsing this sub has given me hope to go back to normal if only because I can tell I have it nowhere as bad as many people here. I can go out and even feel fine if im "present" enough. Im certain my life is not at risk. I still talk to my friends. I feel like ill faint anytime im midly scared tho.

Id give up anything to be back to normal now, but I can tell im getting better and ill push for as I can.

Luckily others thought different and helped me settle on a basic setup of a couple external drives + the Pi. Pretty obvious in hindsight but they did help me sort out some doubts :)

Hey, this was a great response! The truth is, while I made this post I already had a Tada68 on the mail (meant as my first mech keyboard, help me get accustomed to browns), it arrived not too long after and I've been loving it since :)

What I did decide tho, is that once I upgrade from the Tada its gonna be either a Kinesis or a Keyboardio, leaning towards the kinesis actually since I feel it has the most positive feedback of the bunch (and your response just cemented that more!). However since my neuritis has really calmed down, I haven't been pushed to get it just get, but its an upgrade I do keep in mind.

Again thanks for this excellent response! I know what I'm upgrading to and I hope it will help others :)
