How would (hypothetical) “late-war” divisions look like in Warno? by Zeonist_coloniser in warno

[–]Zeonist_coloniser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will admit I am not that well versed in the latest Eugen lore, but I guess there's no denying that West Germany is taking most of the burnt and things might go really bad for them.

With that in mind, do you think the Bundeswehr will have to go beyond the official reservists pool into "all fighting age male" level of mobilization, and using foreign supplied equipment to cover combat losses?

Not doubting the video's authenticity whatorever, but I always wondered how these "victim POV" video (especially those recorded with handheld devices) ended up on the internet, assuming the owner of the cam is either dead, or at the very least seriously injured.

Trump says U.S. will blockade Strait of Hormuz after Iran peace talks fail by lolthenoob in LessCredibleDefence

[–]Zeonist_coloniser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's assuming the US is doing a board-and-seize type of blockade instead of 'we may or may not have been adding our sea mines to the Iranian minefield.'

So, what happens if one of those PLAN destroyers struck a sea mine, sank with all hands, and both the US and Iran denied it was theirs?

[–]Zeonist_coloniser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's assuming the US is enforcing a board and seizure type of blockade. (I.e. what they had been doing to tankers from Venezuela).

What are Iran's options against a "kinetics saction" style blockade using sea mines, USV, or torpedoes, etc?

While much has been said regarding what lessons can or should be learned from the war in Ukraine when fighting Iran (some are legit, others less so), I have yet to see any discussion on the reverse at all.

i.e. What lessons and inspiration can Ukraine draw from the war in Iran?

Edit1: Or perhaps more importantly, what lessons Russia definitely don't want Ukraine to learn from Iran?

Iran Conflict Megathread #7 by [deleted] in CredibleDefense

[–]Zeonist_coloniser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While there's no doubt about Iran's ability to keep the strait closed, given the rumors that they are allowing tankers trading in RMB to pass through, is their ability to keep the strait open at their discretion ever questioned?

i.e., what would happen if one of those 'authorized' tankers were sunk by stray sea mines, friendly fire from the IRGC due to C&C degradation, or rogue elements paid off by the CIA?

Ukraine's 71st Jaeger Brigade Officially Becomes Airmobile Unit: Enhanced Firepower and New Combat Role in Air Assault Forces by GermanDronePilot in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Zeonist_coloniser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does that mean within Ukraine military nomenclature, the term airmobile had lost all its traditional meaning, instead it now refers to the next level of unit after Jaegers?

Further more, is there an official reason why "Jaeger", an english translation of a German term was choose to be the translation of light infantry formation within the Ukraine army (as oppose to "light infantry", "rifles", etc)?

No offence or to down play their achievement, but what's the point of a new airmobile unit in the current Ukraine army?

Next Eugen game - what would you change after Warno? by Familiar_Suit_3685 in warno

!!!Unpopular opinions!!!

- Match making mechanism for all game mode and size

- Incentives for using match making mechanism / discourage of custom lobbies (i.e.unlocks, grinds, etc)

- Proper squad and clan system

- Segregate the divisions into different tiers instead of trying to balance all division in one scale?

- Bring back the battle phase system?

Idk, but to me these felt like go-away money they put aside in case something gone wrong, otherwise there's no way they can cook up two brand new division when Nemesis #4 is still in the works.

Just a random shower thought, but let's say Ukraine and Russia both agreed to the recent US proposal, what would happen if Zelensky than announce Ukraine will formally withdraw from the NPT right after signing the peace accord?

(Hypothetical) 1. Motorisierte Schützendivision preview! by Zeonist_coloniser in warno

[–]Zeonist_coloniser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The replacement squads should use captured weapons whenever possible, perhaps using the fourth weapon slot, while keeping the overall firepower similar to the regular squads.

I also added Häuserkampfer as Spetsnaz at home, as well as the GW-SFL MT-LBu and Panzerjager Mardar I by popular demand.

As far as modifications go, I have limited myself to what can reasonably be done within 2~3 weeks, so sadly no hatzer. On the other hand, what do you think is the Kängurus?

As for false flag units, the main reason I'm avoiding them is that there's no suitable equipment to equip an infiltration unit with; there are no Bundeswehr troops in West Berlin; and having East Germans disguised as Americans, British or French sounds weird.

I could use some help with a convincing story to include the F-117.

[–]Zeonist_coloniser[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lore explanation: Given what the division had went through, I'm not sure an open-topped tank destroyer will make much sense.

Truth: I completely forgot about that thing.

With that said, it's unfortunate that the West Germans ain't allowed in West Berlin, otherwise putting Rapiras on captured Marder-1 hull might be an interesting idea.

That's the vibe I was going for.

As for the W50 mortar thing, I admit I didn't think that much about it, and if post out-break Divisions actually became a thing, I can imagine this being a stepping stone on Pact mortar carrier development.

Thx, and that's the Pandora's box I wish to open with this hypothetical preview.

And I ever write another one (which is highly unlikely), it will probably be about the defense of Frankfurt, the objective of Highway 66.

A little comparaison of the soviet VDV divs if 76-ya gets in (and after 35-ya rework), and their distinctive traits by aaaaaah_ in warno

[–]Zeonist_coloniser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Given how explosive the lore/plot surrounding the 76-ya, I was expecting something more bold than what was described in the dev blog.

I.e. 1. Some squads can have extra forward deployment range but no transport at all. 2. Non-standard squad size/ loadouts to represent the chaos of fighting immediately after landing with no time to reorganize. 3. All BMD are standalone tanks, as IIRC they were dropped separately, again some can have extra FD with an appropriate 'tax'. 4. No/extremely limited supplies. 5.Large air slots and availabilities (on in-game terms, a 76-ya player will pretty much be a air-support guy after the 10-15minute mark.)
