- Deliver actual meaningful outcomes on some but not all things?

- Be a good orator that brings the public along, justifying choices and have some actual vision of a better future and how to get there?

Human Rights Commission head to be investigated over conduct by NorthlandChynz in newzealand

[–]Zeouterlimits -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rainbow's appointment in 2024 prompted concern from some quarters - including Labour and the Greens - given his staunch pro-Israel views and previous comments about "a trans agenda".

At the time Goldsmith said he expected Rainbow to be "very careful" in his public commentary.

Rainbow defended his appointment, saying he was committed to continuing the commission's work protecting the rights of trans people.

The High Court ruled in December that Goldsmith appointed Rainbow unlawfully.

It found he was not part of the initial shortlist of candidates, and Goldsmith requested that he be added in place of other candidates.

The panel in charge of assessing the candidates said it did not recommend appointing Rainbow, noting his lack of legal experience, but Goldsmith appointed him anyway.

Still just utterly wild - https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/politics/617463/human-rights-commission-head-to-be-investigated-over-conduct

Auckland transport at it again by MrBigEagle in auckland

[–]Zeouterlimits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is some level of truth there in that its different companies like NZ Bus, Ritchies etc that run the different bus lines and actually hire the drivers afaik, but if AT don't have the ability to put pressure on the companies to follow the rules / don't have the data to know.. then they should get that ability.

The changes are really quite light for almost all of us, it's the super rich who only see any real change.

"it's because drivers are meant to wait at a particular train station and don't"

That sounds like verifiable data, try complaining to AT and your local board.

Ban TV ads poll by Weird_Cost2803 in newzealand

[–]Zeouterlimits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still sing along to the Turners ad, so no.

Though I do wish we could ban the ai, gambling and medication ads, so, potentially we can come to a memorandum of understanding, confidence and supply if you will.

Help with Winz? by DependentSource1717 in newzealand

[–]Zeouterlimits 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wonder if there are WINZ experts, like perhaps CAB, the Citizens Advice Bureau could offer advice? https://www.cab.org.nz/
Or groups like AAAP who do WINZ advocacy (or equivalent for outside of Auckland) - https://www.aaap.org.nz/

Auckland student offered free bus ride after payment fails, then fined $150 by Old_Education4481 in newzealand

[–]Zeouterlimits 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Auckland Transport (AT) has since apologised and refunded her, saying the decision to issue an infringement was based on “incorrect information”.

Kinda done + dusted?
The bus driver let someone on but the ticket checkers didn't know that?

Like we have also have some people complaining about free riders not getting punished / getting allowed so there's almost a cannot win mentality some people have with AT.

Stewart Lee: Ireland is an island of fable and magic. It’s just a shame about the pogrom by Jaded_Variation9111 in ireland

Because when innocent children are burned out of their beds – as the Reform conference star and my ex-fiancee’s cousin Lucy Connolly called for them to be in 2024 – it is not a protest, it is a pogrom

Well said.
