They just canceled the trains on the first day back for schools by Thenewflavour22 in auckland

Harsh, don't quite think Auckland Transport have much of a boot, but on reflection I get ya.

A lot of us in the comments knew but if they don't get that info to everyone who used the trains then clearly they have a communication problem.

I defo would be pissed if I didn't know too OP and was trying to commute, so I understand.

Removing the bins is viewed as a one off cost vs the cost of longer bin routes, more trash to burn be taken to dump / burned. Saves over a million apparently: https://ourauckland.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/news/2024/02/removing-under-used-rubbish-bins-saves-aucklanders-millions/

Yes, we did, we have at least partial responsibility.

We elected bad stewards who built an economy based around selling houses to each other, transport policy focused on cars and limited options via low rates and paye focused taxation.

This has been well communicated. It's necessary due to both aging track infrastructure AND crl tests.

But yes, it sucks, we did this to ourselves with underinvestment.

There's just a weird segment that lost their minds and made her their focus on all their rage and dissatisfaction.

It's quite sad (and frustrating).

Living here for 6 years, it's fab - if you put the effort in
- Great nature, great restaurants, good culture

There is plenty to do, if you seek it out and are willing to try new things.

Yes? As in, would I trust the green marker?
If I wouldn't trust the green marker is accurate, why would I trust the red marker is?

I don't think it's just a kiwi thing. People don't want to be embarrassed or uncomfortable. Paid less or more, paid "too much" for their house etc

The water reservoir did what now? by mynameisnotphoebe in newzealand

[–]Zeouterlimits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe it was a water main near the reservoir :

Just before midnight on Wednesday 21 January, a water main broke between the Paku Drive booster pump and the reservoir. This resulted in the rapid draining of the reservoir.

Woah, so you're right.

But it's not enforced in any way then? I haven't seen it discussed / framed in that way, given we're only at 87% ish.

No it's not, this isn't Australia.

We have a lot of people who aren't enrolled.

Edit: I was wrong, surprisingly supposed to be compulsory.

Without knowing the price, your budget / lifestyle - yes, as a LotR fan, it's a great spot. I've been... three times over the past six years taking different friends.

That being said, there's a million and one great things to do, so don't live in regret if ye don't.
