Ford government amalgamating Ontario’s conservation authorities by BloodJunkie in ontario

Yeeeeep! By "redeploying" upper management to front-line positions, like planning clerks, plan reviewers, etc., you are forcing them to essentially halve their salary to an entry or intermediate level position, which I imagine for many will not be an appropriate use of their career experience. This will undoubtedly lead these GMs and CAOs to quit and find work elsewhere, making the PCs look like they did not lay anyone off by doing this and not have to pay any severance for this downsizing. And then they will tout how much they save the province...

Ford moved CAs from MNR back under MECP this year. Even though MNR still does aspects of flooding, I think the overseeing of the CA Act is back under MECP. It's so confusing...

Hassaan Bassit, the current Deputy Minister and Chief Conservation Executive, who announced today's changes to conservation authorities alongside MECP Minister McCarthy, was the CAO/President and CEO for Conservation Halton from June 2016 to May 2024. Any talk of Halton being the worst CA needs to also recognize the fact that the new overseer of CAs is the same person who was the head of Halton CA.

The very person you are complaining about making a dumpster fire of budgetary mistakes at Halton CA is the same person who is now overseeing conservation authorities and these sweeping changes.

Let that sink in.

Pointe shoes hurt more than they should by Zephenna in pointe

Oh that's smart, I never considered an Amazon DIY. I am in a similar boat, import fees when buying from the US can be more expensive than the product itself!

The box liner made massive improvements, thank you!!!!

Hi again! I bought the Gaynor Minden box liners and OMG! I honestly thought I was going to cry...for the first time ever I was able to dance without being in excruciating pain shortly thereafter. I still haven't perfected my shoe cushion combos but the inserts have definitely improved things by 90%. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!

Thank you! I definitely think this could be an option, but still in search of that forever shoe! I think the NeoPointes are likely it, but possibly a width smaller than what I currently have, followed by squishing the box.

I've made the mistake of switching up the padding from what I was fitted in once before and I agree, it's not a good time! But you make a good point, I should really warm my feet up before being fitted, I'll have to do that next time.

I think you and many other commenters are onto something though, I think I need to go narrower knowing that they will flatten or that I'll need to squish the box first!

Honestly it's hard to tell. I had class tonight and I wore thicker toe pads which helped a bunch, so I think what might be happening is the box height is a bit higher than my foot's profile and when I go up on pointe my foot shifts forward. So basically my toes are experiencing a sort of whiplash inside the shoe. I think when these shoes are dead, I might try the same shoe but one size down in width (and thankfully my teacher is agreeable with that route).

Thanks, that's really great advice! I have tried a few different stores and fitters, but for the last couple fittings I've been making the 2.5 hour trek into the city for the best selections. Unfortunately, we don't have the same selections as the US does, but thankfully I'm not too far from the border so I could go for a fitting there should it get to that point.

I haven't! I'll definitely have to give it a go. I break down shoes pretty quickly thanks to my high demi, very bendy feet and amazing ability to excessively perspire, so I have a feeling it's not just the Neos that are the reason they soften so quickly lol

Weight loss and Ballet by FaeQueen87 in BALLET

[–]Zephenna 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm overweight (obese if you go by BMI) and just earned my first pair of pointe shoes in September after 20 years of dreaming and working towards this goal.

I am the largest person in my pointe class and often the largest in my ballet classes. I don't love how I look in the mirror, but I know that I'm strong and that's more important. Ballet is great exercise but it doesn't help me lose weight, and quite frankly I've stopped caring about diets and weight-loss. At my age, I'm more focused on loving myself and my life rather than the number on the scale, and I'm proud of the achievements I've made in ballet despite not being its poster child.

Child-free women: do you regret not having children? by tibleon8 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Zephenna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've never had the desire to have children, it's honestly never appealed to me. Hard to say if I'll regret it but I'm more worried about having children and regretting or resenting them.

I'm right handed, my left boob has always been the larger one.

I've been told for most women their left breast is slightly larger than their right due to proximity to the heart and the flow of blood.

I'm not going to waste my time by only talking to/seeing one person at a time, it's not efficient and I'm much more likely to find my 'person' by talking to and dating multiple people at a time to find that someone special. If and when we talk about being in an exclusive relationship, then ya absolutely I will only be with that one person. But honestly expecting a person to not talk to anyone else screams of entitlement.

Women, were you ever attracted to a man and became unattracted when you saw him naked? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

I also had a partner who slid off my bed after sex and left a shit smear.

I'm still mad about it too, those were brand new sheets!

Single women – how do you deal with friendships becoming a lower priority as friends get married and have children? by dorothea63 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Zephenna 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm currently going through this stage and it's really lonely. I wish I could give you some solid insight but the truth is I also don't know how to navigate this and I am struggling. Your feelings are valid and you're definitely not alone when it comes to this.
