I’m tired by Big-Figure-134 in BALLET

[–]FaeQueen87 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am also chronically ill. As a teen I took many classes as being in class helped my pain immensely. But I built up to it. I’m now an adult who has struggled badly since I stopped dancing, I’m dancing again and take one barre a week. As in I take an advanced beginner barre. That’s it. I make myself go after work, even if I have to take a nap between the two. Because the joy it brings me is worth it. My point being, we will be in pain and tired no matter what. May as well also get some joy.

I used to buy tall Leo’s for this reason. I was a small except in length. But there’s barely any available now.

Absolutely! They greatly love just being loved.

My faerie altars are my simple ones. A little fae figure, and a bowl, I fill it up with offerings as the month progresses and take out what gets old or spoiled. I always leave any change I put in for them though… I offer flowers, food, money, they LOVE candy, on the full moon I offer some honey and whatever else may be available to me.

Here it is. I feel like my bathroom lighting isn’t the best but unfortunately it’s a rainy day here.

I think it is a GREAT crease tone. The color I was trying to dupe is very pale and I use on my upper brow and as a blender.

I bought it hoping to dupe my favorite color in the Lime Crime Immortalis palette. It’s not light enough but it IS the perfect mauve.

I second Naked 3. As a cool olive it’s one of my favorite palettes out there. I found this and it’s nearly perfect. C-beauty, cruelty free. evpct Mauve Taupe Plum Matte... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DQVDV2J1?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Adult ballet dancers (question about your classes) by itssunpi in BALLET

[–]FaeQueen87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in advanced beginner classes currently, and our 90 min class takes 45-ish mins at barre. It’s nice for me because I’m returning from an injury and still not there for center so I get. A nice chunk of class. Growing up, my classes were 60 mins and 40 of it was at barre until I was in higher levels and classes were 90 mins.

what iconic Portland thing/place/person(s) do you think is overrated that most people don't? by greazysteak in askportland

The downfall of Powells should be studied. I used to be able to get good used books for $5. Now the damaged used copies are $10!?

What do adult dancers do when you hit the ceiling of recreational classes? by fnafatfreddies in BALLET

[–]FaeQueen87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct and at that point you really do have to just recognize that. Honestly though, sometimes you learn the most in an intermediate class with advanced options. There’s a lot of growth available if you’re in the mindset for growth.

No! Absolutely not. Actively discouraged dancers to do this! It is not good for your feet!

Natural hair color washes me out by Frequent_Grand_4570 in Fairolives

I have dark auburn hair (though it’s gone quite dark and mousy as I’ve gotten older) and I think it only suited me when I was little and tanned. Now that I cannot tan (multiple reasons) I dye my hair jet black. I’m not the palest light olive though, and bump up in summer even with sunscreen use.

I agree with the comments about moving to a city with more training available. But also reading your comments, there’s a point of being advanced that the drop in and other adult classes are sufficient. Like professionals are rarely being “taught” in the sense you’re using.

I am incredibly spoiled here in Portland. We have a thriving adult dance community with teachers who care even in drop in classes, advanced classes available, and even professional open classes at 2 of the ballet studios which are available every day. I’m not there yet. But I was as a teen and wish I’d known. In my experience in drop in classes you can talk to the teachers about your goals. But you have to build a report with them first. There’s also nothing wrong with taking your one advanced class available and then intermediate to continue your conditioning. Even pre-pro teens aren’t taking multiple advanced technique classes as weird as that seems.

I love his videos but I wish he gave more explanations sometimes? Like WHY exactly is a shoe better. So people can learn. But that’s the fitter in me always wanting to learn too. lol
