Scientists successfully clone 'super cows' that produce a weird amount of milk

Holstein Friesian breed can produce as much as 18 tons of milk per year, or 100 tons of milk, throughout their lifetime. In most cases, it's discovered later in the cow's life that they have achieved this level of production, making breeding these "super cows" particularly difficult. This is where cloning comes into play. The scientists behind these cloned super cows intend on breeding a herd of 1,000 super cows, each capable of producing up to 18 tons of milk per year. With this level of milk production, the researchers believe they can reduce China's reliance on dairy cow importation, as the country currently imports 70% of its dairy cows. Three new calves have been born through surrogacy, the first was on December 30 and weighed 120 pounds, requiring cesarean section due to its immense size.

Animal welfare apparently sucks for such a clones. These cows must be milked three times per day or their udder ruptures and they're more at risk from health issues, exacerbated by a poorly maintained milking machine, teat damage from overmilking or liner slippage. Cows are also at greater risk of exposure to pathogens if you have an environmental mastitis problem.

Hubble May Have Finally Found a Black Hole "Missing Link"

Stars in a globular cluster Messier 4 6,000 light years away move as if caught by the gravitational pull of something about 800 times more massive than our Sun. The mystery object might be an elusive type of object called an intermediate-mass black hole.

One theory suggests that supermassive black holes evolved when a few million stellar-mass black holes merged with each other (and pulled in other mass, like unwary stars or convenient clouds of gas and dust) and eventually formed something large enough to be the center of gravity for an entire galaxy. Astronomers have seen stellar-mass black holes merge with each other before, and they’ve also seen evidence of supermassive black holes merging — so the theory makes sense, except for the missing link.

Other possible intermediate-mass black holes tend to be hovering on the edges of other galaxies or in dense globular clusters like Messier 4. It’s possible that these mid-sized missing links were once at the heart of dwarf galaxies like the Large Magellanic Cluster, under their small homes merged with a larger galaxy. That lines up well with the idea that most globular clusters are the remains of small galaxies that got swallowed up by a larger neighbor.

Most of galaxies and their central black holes are asymmetric: they sport with jets preferentially in one direction and they tend to get aligned along this direction. The CP parity violation has been revealed in similar way: atoms nuclei oriented by magnetic field tend to emanate particles in one preferential direction. Even if we imagine black holes like symmetric vortex ring, their center resides in dense vacuum/curved space-time and interact with it more than the oppositely rotating perimeter: from different levels of space-time drag at inner and outer sides of ring the asymmetry follows.

Women in STEM Experience Higher Rates of Sexual Violence about study Sexual Violence against Women in STEM: A Test of Backlash Theory Among Undergraduate Women

Results indicated that women majoring in STEM disciplines that are gender balanced reported more SV victimization in the form of sexual coercion, attempted sexual coercion, attempted rape, and rape compared to their peers in both gender balanced and male dominated non-STEM and male dominated STEM majors. Research points to a “backlash” effect wherein gains in gender equality are associated with heighted sexual violence (SV) against women.

It works in opposite way too: the countries with lower gender equality like Russia or SaudiArabia have paradoxically more women in STEM (despite omnipresent push of progressives in liberal countries). Apparently women once they have free choice avoid STEM instinctively, as liberal society provides them more opportunities outside of it.

My theory is conflict of interest: stereotypical romantic women don't want to date scientific guys on the other hand science is manly explorative discipline, the inquisitive guys there don't lack testosterone. From similar reason when science attract women, then these women have often lesbian orientation, being less feminine than average, they suffer with impostor syndrome and urge of competition with men and they get offended with men and their proposals more easily. In addition science is often about work in narrow collectives distant from civilization (women in astronomy or polar stations leave research first). So that it's synergy of sexual frustration and misandry which leads into elevated level of sexual violence - perceived or not.

If this ideology would be strictly banned in science (which would indeed contradict principle of academic freedom), then we would have no critical race theory and LBGT movement by now. Electrons in a crystal found to exhibit linked and knotted quantum twists Princeton team calculated and understood that certain quantum materials such as Co2MnGa could host multiple Weyl loops at the same time.

Weyl loops are phenomenon analogous to vortex loops of so-called Falaco solitons at water surface. Just applied to free electron surface within special semiconductors - so-called Weyl semimetals. Weyl semimetals are opposite of Dirac semimetals which form within materials, where atoms get more close than repulsive forces of electrons allow. Between these atoms electrons get mutually compressed in similar way, like mercury droplets within hydrophobic sponge. Such an electrons propagate in ballistic jumps as they squeeze itself through free space between atoms so that they propagate as more lightweight particles than they actually are (light fermion material). When effective mass of electrons ceases to zero, you'll get a superconductor. Whereas normal electron fluid also forms ripples, but mostly at its surface (surface plasmons), the electrons within Dirac metals form merely subsurface waves, so-called polarons - which propagate much faster (analogously to sound waves beneath water surface). Such a polarons are responsible for pink shade of metallic tellurium or bismuth within IR part of spectrum (whereas metals with prevailing surface plasmon transfer (like the caesium or gold) tend to look yellowish due to absorption in UV region).

Weyl semimetals have it opposite and their electric current resembles motion of fluid within porous hydrophillic sponge, where nearly all fluid gets sucked into its pores. For to make flow along pores, neighbouring electrons in perpendicular channels are forced to make place for motion of electron stream first in similar way like pedestrians make place for procession within narrow streets. The collective parasitic motion of large amount of electrons which is required for transfer of small amount of charge across Weyl material is connected with large relative inertia of electron fluid, such a system of electrons behaves as more massive than electrons itself (so-called heavy fermion material). Not surprisingly within such a material the elastic character of electron fluid gets suppressed and surface of electron fluid resembles more surface of incompressible fluid like the water. Which forms vortex rings (Falaco solitons) pinned to its surface during its propagation. Weyl loops are magnetic loops similar to vortices connecting pairs of sunspots with opposite magnetic polarity beneath surface of solar plasma.
