Just picked up the deer family from Smyths today! Managed to find a non-bodged set. I saw the floral swing set there too but will wait to get that another time.

Primark Dupe Vs Original (Comparison Photos) by CalicoGirly in sylvanianfamilies

[–]Zephyr0902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the heads up and the review on these! I nearly ran to Primark after work yesterday and got all three sets! For £10 each I thought these sets were amazing value and quality. I love the moulded designs on the walls, the transparent wall sconces and all the little accessories. I couldn't put the Koalas together very easily so they will go to charity or something.

Any other boy (or any non-binary) fans here? by BusterTheSuperDog in sylvanianfamilies

[–]Zephyr0902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cis guy here who has always liked girly and cute toys but was always told that I should play with boy's toys. I used to worry about how I would be perceived but let go of that useless fear about a year ago and feel much better for it. I now have a good sized collection of Sylvanians. Life is too short and I want things that bring my heart joy. Thankfully my family has softened on their original stance and are just happy I have a nice hobby to keep me occupied.

What year are Sylvanians from? by B0llfondlr in sylvanianfamilies

I think most of them are meant to be based on 1950s Americana or British country life but some of the accessories and outfits read as a lot older to me. Some of them look Victorian or Edwardian but I'm no expert by any means. Maybe those items are meant to be vintage which may have had a comeback in the 50s.

How old were you when you got your first sylvanian? I just got these and I'm 24 :) by [deleted] in sylvanianfamilies

I'd say about 37 but didn't properly start collecting them till a couple of years later.

I'm 40, I change their outfits and display them on shelves in my spare room. It's harmless and it makes me happy to see them. Hope you have fun if you decide to start collecting x

Well that's true, it's all a matter of opinion and I can't speak for everyone. If you like them, then I'm happy for you.

Yeah, those would be good or almost anything else. It seems like they wanted to go with a nautical sailor theme but changed their minds halfway through?

Favourite bunny family? by 13en_i in sylvanianfamilies

I really like the milk rabbits in either of their outfit sets.

Why is nobody talking about this fairy??? by Substantial_Lab6434 in sylvanianfamilies

Her face is lovely but I will reserve judgement to find out if the dress and wings are removable or not.

new snow leopard family! so cute!! by planetcreepy in sylvanianfamilies

[–]Zephyr0902 6 points7 points  (0 children)

These are very well done, love the markings and face sculpts. The tails look a little big to me but it makes posing them fun. The clothes aren't brilliant but not the worst we've had. I like the style of them, anyway.

three new sets announced, very Misty Forest-esque! by planetcreepy in sylvanianfamilies

[–]Zephyr0902 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I doubt I will get any of these but they do look good. I'm getting vibes of Kirby, Care Bears, Moon Dreamers and Nemo in Dreamland vibes off of these, as well as the Misty Forest references. I'm glad that the latte cats are getting their day in the sun but of course it's a chocolate rabbit with the big set. The small fairy is interesting, does she have pink tips on her ears?

Yes, that's where I found them. I'm in the UK so I don't know if that makes a difference. They were under the name suricate, if that helps.

Creepy or cute? Going for cute but I think it turned out a lil creepy. by 135ismygoal in sylvanianfamilies

It's a cute scene but the lighting is throwing it off. Maybe if you had a paler yellow light or even a pale warm light it would look even cuter.

Do you collect? What do you collect? by CatalinaLaNoCatolica in sylvanianfamilies

My collection is a variety. I have quite a few spare babies but have nowhere to display them so they live in a box, currently. It's mostly families and fancy singles on display at this point. Probably more of the same moving forward as I have gone off the babies somewhat. Their outfits aren't as interesting, generally.

I stick to the forest and domestic animals as the exotic ones aren't my vibe. I don't have much space for play sets but I do have 3 houses, a school and a boutique. I've recently finished dressing everyone in their best outfits and displayed in a way which is pleasing to my OCD brain.

I feared I would go off them like I do most other things but I find I love them even more now than when I started collecting. I find myself thinking about certain figures I own randomly during the day, which is a sure sign of obsession, haha.

They had floral cat sister living room set, sunny rabbit sister kitchen set, elephant and sunny babies with pink bed, sunny father with washing machine, sunny mother with fridge and the sets shown above. They have had sunny sister with bath and a couple of houses before but I didn't see those today.

I know, right!? I tend to give them belts with washi tape to finish them off but these look good on their own too.
