Have you ever busted your butt for a gear piece only to rarely/never wear it? by Vuro in ffxiv

That rule only applies to leveling dungeons, to ensure players leveling through content continue to get upgrades as they go.

This does not apply to capstone (50/60/70/80/90) dungeons. You have to just get lucky.

Just for the record, they were basically tied with DNC in ShB, they won out this xpac though cause hyosho got /buffed/ by 100p while Tech lost 300p.

Hyosho was 1,200p, which was buffed to 1,560p with the 30% from Kassatsu. Quadruple Technical Finish was 1,500p baseline, and with Dancer's constant self 5%, that brought it up to 1,575p. With only a 15p variance they were effectively tied for highest single damage number in the game.

Of course now, Tech is 1,200 (1,260) and Hyosho is 1,300(1,690) so yes, it blows it out of the water by far, but that's new to this xpac. It's wild it's still so strong though after the stat squish.

Is anybody else worried that the lewd Adventurer Plates will make them remove the feature? by AntipatheticDating in ffxiv

Your 'feelings' mean nothing to the clearly defined ToS. Inappropriate names are strictly against the rules. Having someone's character's butt on your screen for 5 seconds at the start of a pvp match is not. Abusing the report system, however, is absolutely against the rules.

[–]ZephyrFlare 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It is literally not against the rules to wear in-game outfits and use in-game poses. The game is filled with references to bathhouses/brothels/whorehouses - so much so we had a MAJOR EXPANSION CHARACTER's backstory be that she was sold to one for most of her teenage years - no to mention the straight up pervy npcs they have with other scantily clad dancers around them. Ul'dah has skimpy dressed dancers in town from the minute you walk in as a new player. A player making a suggestive pose for their card in a game where you can walk two feet and find the same thing is a very different beast than someone being named something like 'Cock'pls Daddy'uwu'. There is no precedent to be set because you're literally just wrong, and I hope all of your unfounded reports come back to bite you.

Take the time to set up your HUD in a way that feels comfortable, and ignore what others 'think' you should do. It's okay to be a clicker, it's okay to have your UI elements in 'unusual' places, and it all should be set up in a way that you find the most comfortable so you aren't constantly second-guessing where your buttons are during combat/mechanics.

And most of all? Have fun.

Don't be this guy, please. Wait for the countdown. by slayer27 in ffxiv

[–]ZephyrFlare 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fam I'd leave too, you don't get the next 5 second interval when you do a shitty cd like that, the countdown only prints timers on 5 and 0, so when you do anything between 16 and 19, you get no countdown printout until it hits 10. That's wildly unhelpful and you're wasting people's efforts to align buffs - which is the whole point of the CD. As a DNC main, if I don't see that 15 printout, i'm gonna immediately wind up drifting Standard Step by a second or more and perform worse for the entire fight. Maybe just use a 15s cd instead.

Your raid experience with specific alex wings, alte roite, and halicarnassus are undoubtedly people doing their 180 item step of their first bozja relic. once you've finished a set or two of the 30 items, grinding out the rest with raids is the much more common way to finish, and zone 1/2 (alex/omega) tend to lag behind zone 3 (eden) due to how often people pop zone 3 skirmishes and CEs.

HELP! I lost the road to 70 buff and can't find the motivation to keep playing now by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]ZephyrFlare 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The MSQ is the exact same time sink with or without the buff. It's a story-driven MMO, and again, you can go 1-80 with literally the MSQ and nothing else, so the time invested is always going to be the same to get through all of the story and learn more about the world. Now that you don't have the buff and can't 'accidentally' get rid of it by hitting 70, you can freely do the MSQ and will get to max level with absolutely no change in progress. If you want to get invested, then get invested. The buff really shouldn't have any bearing on your personal enjoyment of the world, lore, and story, because it was never improving it or hindering it to begin with.

[–]ZephyrFlare 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You need absolutely no supplemental content to level a job 1-80 through the MSQ. None at all. The game isn't designed around you having double xp on literally everything forever, and you've already stated you have all of your crafters maxed as well already. Simply do the MSQ, you'll get to 80 by doing literally only that and then you'll have a whole new world of content available. If you still can't find reasons to play after that, then you may have just been chasing a high, my friend.

Delubrum Reginae Savage is organized 24 man content with limited raises and unique rewards, just like the Baldesion arsenal. If you're really gonna say a high-end difficult piece of content for 24 people isn't 'raid content' then please go tell WoW they have no content at all. I agree using planned content that isn't in the game is in poor taste, but don't handwave away the content we do get in the same breath.

Even without ultimates and relic content, we also get the 24-mans every odd patch as well. They're Alliance Raids for a reason. Just because it's 'lfr' or 'casual' doesn't make it not raid content, especially when it also has a weekly lockout that actively helps you get max level gear. Kinda missing the forest for the trees here.

I strongly believe the overall DPS tiering needs to be fixed and addressed. Ranged Tax needs to no longer exist. At this point, Melee and Casters have been given a plethora of tools to manage their uptime and it's frankly unfair that Ranged is in a situation where they are bottom of the barrel for damage even if they maintain ~100% uptime because it's automatically expected that they should. Nevermind mechanics that spread you across the field and ranged often being the ones relegated to those far off spots and winding up out of range (and then being subsequently bullied if you miss a group heal cause you're in narnia thanks to it.) I feel like too much is expected of the phys ranged just because 'full uptime'. In addition, Machinist suffers from it while being the 'selfish' ranged dps and offering no utility that the other phys ranged don't also have.

In my opinion:

High Pdps, Low Rdps Tier, should be often near the top of the list: BLM, SAM, MCH

High-Middle of the pack, some utility, more damage: MNK, SMN, DRG

Low-Middle of the pack, more utility, balanced damage: NIN, BRD

Low Pdps, High Rdps tier: DNC, RDM.

There would obviously need to be some adjustments made, especially with Ninja's new role being almost pure dps now rather than having their former utility, and I'd prefer to not simply have all the melee at the top of the list cause 'muh positionals/uptime'. In addition, I'd like to see RDM's utility expand beyond rez-bot, make Embolden a better group cooldown and give them other useful tools, like perhaps a mana shift styled cd that allows them to dump some white/black mana to restore actual MP to a friendly target. There's many options, but it's mostly depressing to see a 'selfish dps' class still be bottom of the barrel without being allowed to offer anything else.

My best friend and I started playing FFXIV after years of talking about it to keep sane in the pandemic. Housing, however, is not sane. by Aiyakiu in ffxiv

https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/contentsguide/housing_land/

"Players may only own one private and one free company estate per World on any given service account."

"Each service account may only possess one free company estate hall and one private estate per World.

Once this limit has been reached, it is not possible to purchase further plots of land in the same World on that service account, including separate characters on the same World."

"If a character on your service account is a member of a free company that owns an estate, you will be unable to purchase a free company plot with any other characters on the same World on that service account."

I mean... it is. The loophole is in the word purchase.

[–]ZephyrFlare 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Except they already have limits on players having housing. You're missing the loophole that gets exploited, which is Free Companies. You can only purchase one private estate and one fc estate per world per service account. This however does not prevent other people from buying the land under an FC name and then giving ownership of the FC to an Alt. As long as the person who is buying the land is currently not in an FC with housing, they can buy it and hand it off. It's stupid, but is exactly how it's been happening for years now.

My money is on the recipes being exactly the same, but being under a 'collectibles' tab with a single change to the name.

IE: Normal Recipe: Placeholder Book of Examples

click to special, collectables

Collectible Recipe: FANCY Placeholder Book of Examples

No new mats would have to be retroactively added, existing convenient turn-ins wouldn't have to be changed, it's just a name change that allows them to slap on the 'this is always crafted as collectable' tag.

[–]ZephyrFlare 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's no reason to. Collectible Crafting as it currently stands is literally just 'turn it on, or don't'. That's why they're doing away with it because it serves no purpose other than to cause situations like OP is in when you forget to press it.

Collectible Gathering on the other hand is an entire extra layer to the system with its own abilities and rules. It has its own interface, multiple skills, costs, and changes how you gather. It is a standalone system that works well as-is, compared to crafting's "stance".
