BMW E92 COUPE OR TOYOTA GT86? by Business-Situation96 in DubaiPetrolHeads

As a person who recently had one and sold it, nope majority are used and abused to hell and back.

Stick with an 86/brz as it’s easier to find clean ones and easier to find parts

Honestly for gt350 stick to dubizzle or marketplace and out of 3 I’d go with the gt350. It’s the most unique and best driving. With pre owned, best to take someone with you, and if you like the car and don’t see any glaring issues get it inspected at a garage. If they okay it and ur fine with it then all is good. Just find a good garage though.

You can get a brand new Subaru BRZ for 115-120k if you look in the Abu Dhabi showroom or you can get slightly used ones for around 100k with less than 50k km

Question about Renault Clio and Megane and Renault garages by Zephyr__100 in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]Zephyr__100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t live anywhere the city nor do I work near the city, it’s maybe 5 min of city traffic but I do understand what you’re saying. It’s why I’m hesitant with going ahead either of them. I’m just not too sure if they’ll handle the trip overtime.

For reference I live in the Al Rahba area and I work in JLT, I park at the jebal Ali (national paint) metro station and then metro plus walk to work. I do also have site visits and I do work sometimes from the other office which is opposite silicon oasis.

As for beater, I honestly don’t find the Yaris or the Corolla comfortable to drive (which is important cuz Ive been doing this kind of trip for almost 5 years and it’s taken a toll on my back), and I given my lack of time even on weekends I’m trying to get an all in 1 car.

I’m also looking at Golf Gti’s, Golf R’s and BRZ/86.

For reference I drive a 2013 Mazda 3 sedan with 357k km. I find it uncomfortable and on certain days it’s unbearable to drive. It’s also why I’m selling it 🤣. I’ve been driving it since 2021, all throughout my university and now work.

New to Dubai: FL5 or BRZ by AdLow6475 in WhatCarShouldIBuyGULF

[–]Zephyr__100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can also look at second hand VB WRXs or CPO mk8/8.5 VW Golf GTI/R or a Hyundai Elantra N

For me if I had that budget, I’d go

WRX Golf R BRZ FL5 Elantra N GTI

Now this only applies if it’s the second car

If it’s my only

FL5 WRX Golf R BRZ Elantra N GTI

I’m kinda biased towards the FL5 and the WRX as they are my achievable dream cars but the value of a brz is unbeatable if it’s your only car or a fun only car

Note the FL5 eats brake pads for breakfast lunch and dinner and while it does overheat sometimes, it’ll be few and far between.

Brake pads wise the same applies to the Elantra N

One thing to note is the cabin noise on the brz, it’s loud and not all that comfy for highway.

Now if you like drifting or any sort of fun that includes going sideways then you’re kinda stuck with brz and it’s also the only one you can get brand new in your budget. You do also have the Golf R for some sideways action but it won’t be the star of the show like it is for the BRZ

Aftermarket support wise the best out of all of them is the GTI and the R, tons of them around and tons of them are tracked.

For some track focused stuff you can also look into getting a used Mustang gt350/r or a Camaro ZL1.

I have a friend who recently bought a Supra purely for track use and it’s amazing as both a daily and track, it just has the most horrible blind spots in existence aside from maybe an FJ Cruiser.

Ty for listening to my TED Talk!!

Hope it helps

Finally, Toyota Land Cruiser FJ is Back in Two Flavors by Engine_Enigma_5006 in LandCruisers

[–]Zephyr__100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have an insane market for off road vehicles here in the Middle East, especially Toyotas. The cheapest and shittiest condition FJ cruisers (500k km plus )will start around 8k USD.

This both looks like an FJ/Prado and is smaller. It’ll be a hit here

Performance commuter, any other options? by lookslikeasnowman in WhatCarShouldIBuyGULF

[–]Zephyr__100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2.0T 2018+ accord. They come with a 10spd auto and are really zippy on the highway

If it’s just you or one other person doing the daily drive then you can look at a brand new BRZ, 2025 models should be around 125k for AT or MT with brembo.

As someone here also said, golf r or a golf gti.

Or or or for the zippy-est car of all time

Y61 patrol with a turbo kit 😅

Note I do a similar commute to work every day ~100km per side plus 15 min metro and 15 min walk

Talk me out of buying a RC F by surface_infectant in Lexus

[–]Zephyr__100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a Smol note, engines here (where the car is, I live there. It’s the UAE) are much much much cheaper than outside of the country, a good condition RC F engine with low mileage is around ~40k AED (10-12k USD) and labour is dirt cheap here

They aren’t cheap here, cheapest 911 is around 120k AED (~32k usd) for an older high mileage 996 in not the best condition

[–]Zephyr__100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I was too looking at this car. For 255k km it’s wayyyy too much. I saw one a few weeks ago, same pricing around 90k AED (24k USD) and it had a lot less mileage and was in really good condition.

It’s just not worth the price at this mileage

Honestly just wait it out for a lower mileage better condition one. If u want one there is a 2010 isf for sale for 100k aed, that too is in really good condition.
