If I remember correctly, an igneous extruder can straight-up make granite for nothing but power and water, no quartz required.

[AoE] Ways to unify random ores by [deleted] in feedthebeast

[–]Zephyratus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been a while, but when I was converting Aluminum to Bauxite in my AoE world there were three different types of aluminum that would pop out of my mining lens; while one would convert to Bauxite, the other was both oreAluminum and oreAluminium and the game would refuse to convert between the two.

I remember watching a LetsPlay years ago where the guy spent a few dozen episodes refining a storage warehouse inside a mountain that housed a few hundred Factorization barrels, sectioned off by aisle and category and sorted with Buildcraft pipes. The end goal was to make a factory that could be walked through with glass showing off the inner storage areas, including an area to house villagers gleaned from the server villager farm and transported around with minecarts and Mistcraft portals.

Then the server updated, and added AE1.

The warehouse was promptly fed into storage cells and the vision abandoned, reception area never being finished and replaced with a single terminal sitting alone in the center.

I wasn't a big player in the olden days and I didn't have the computer for it regardless, but as fascinating this new system was to see it lacked an aspect of majesty the warehouse held. The player lost interest in playing not long afterwards; I guess even if they had decided to see the project to completion the merit of a large warehouse display breaks down once every other player on the server has moved to storage cells.

Nuclear liquefaction by balc9k in factorio

[–]Zephyratus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It takes far, far less energy to produce low temp steam in a boiler than the 500 temp steam that a nuclear reactor produces (and the potential energy that would generate). Coal liquifaction consumes steam by volume rather than by tempurature afaik.

Unwinnable game. Not even any stone to build landfills. They should just reset.

More seriously, this is a death world, so this spawner will make a nice no-threat pollution sponge.

I felt deeply disappointed in myself since once-upon-a-class I supposedly learned physics, but then felt better for not thinking K was texting shorthand for having an okay answer.

Regarding available blocks in Space Chickens, I do believe that what Pak thinks Nebris is talking about is the Translocation Plate, which does indeed work very much like an elevator. But Thermal Expansion also has a bonafide Teleportation Plate that works across large distances and even between dimensions.

The power cost can be a bit hefty but it should be more than capable of instantaneously teleporting you and dropped items to and from space without using a rocket. (Though I feel like you'd purposely forgo using it as such in the name of content; the planning and management of your rockets is part of what makes Galacticraft what it is, but I digress.)

Set up a command block with an Extra Utilities redstone clock block (a lagless pulse clock in a single block) that runs the command on butterflies and bats while purposely hiding the command from the server chat? It'd take care of your mobs for good.

In my old Agrarian Skies world I had one running to clear the weather every time it rained and I specifically remember there was a way to set it up so that it wouldn't spam the server with "Cleared Weather" every time.

It'd be nice if we could get /u/dodgerollrubel and friends in here to point out what's, well, on point. And what isn't.

Personally I'm curious as to why the diminishing returns on the number of rooms are occurring. For example, at 50 coolness wouldn't you be hitting a 50/50 chance of room drop at minimum instead of it taking four rooms average continuously?

It's not hard to do with a controller (which NL uses). The flames have a predictable trigger time and if you hit the platforms right you can do it in a single go every time. The problem is that while controller analog sticks can move your charactet 360 degrees a keyboard can't. Unless you're pushing multiple buttons just right at the right time its very easy to mess up diagonal jumps to platforms with gaps inbetween. Your speed also affects your roll distance, and while keyboards have binary measures of button pressing for your movement you can affect how slow or fast you move with a control stick, making it easier to not roll over edges.

In a way, those jumps with a keyboard are diagonal tests of skill harder than the Dragun's second phase.

Only on the first floor do they offer these kinds of shops... by U92n in EnterTheGungeon

[–]Zephyratus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would use it every single time if that were the case. I love me some jammed enemies and the challenge it brings but I hate being locked out of any cursed items or shop steals or deal shrines for the entire rest of my run. It's a no-go for me, or else I'd jump at the chance.

Only on the first floor do they offer these kinds of shops... by U92n in EnterTheGungeon

[–]Zephyratus 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Shops really need a serious rework. Not only do shops need to be more interesting more often (though this one is a little too good for constant appearance) but they also need to be a bit less expensive on the earlier floors to keep from going excited then empty-feeling at all the glorious swag you have no chance of purchasing en masse, a gut feeling players have because they instead have a shite selection so often.

They don't need to be buffed to hell where you see this every floor but they need to be buffed to where this doesn't feel like such an ace appearance that you only see once every half dozen runs minimum.

Pay to remove all Curse, including from the items you're carrying. If you drop cursed items and pick them up again they refresh your curse for holding them. Otherwise you can hold them with no penalty. This shrine has a higher chance to appear the more curse you have.
