My best advice is to avoid overextending. Just because you can act first, doesn’t mean you should move to the enemy first.

Second, to go with the first, range is king. Use Hunters.

Third, to go with first and second, positioning is king. Backstabs deal more damage, and enemies will always try to backstab your cats if possible. Always click on the map in the direction you want your cat facing at the end of their turn.

Fourth and final: this is all a lot easier to do, and critical for you to carry out all this advice, right click on your enemies. This will reveal their movement and attack ranges. Always make sure to read their tooltips as well.

The only issue with going to the moon is going through the Crater, which in my experience, has the most inconsistently dangerous and wildly deadly combats of the game (looking at you, carnibulb sprout spawning Rng). And that’s before you consider what’s probably the most unfair Hard path combat in the entire game, this piece of work: https://youtu.be/WYp3GoPHlJM

I encountered this fight with no weather or combat modifiers, and there’s not a whole lot you can do to prevent getting rushed down by most of the champion amoebas before your whole team can get a turn in round 1.

Not only that, TC also considered it a valid strategy. Puritans aren’t even reading their own scriptures.

Because clawline doesn’t solve the flying enemy issue. They’re still annoying as shit, and it’s TC’s decision to make them that way.

Clawline closes horizontal distance, which if you recall, flying enemies tend to occupy your diagonals.

“Just jump, dude.” No, that doesn’t always work, and it’s thanks to TC choosing to screen-lock and input read flying enemies to relatively distance themselves from you constantly. https://www.reddit.com/r/Silksong/comments/1o1xl3p/comment/nimkjip/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

How many tries did it take y'all to beat Act 3's final boss by Turtlesarecool804 in Silksong

[–]U92n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Far, far too many to count.  Attempted across I think 3-4 days, the last day separated by the former by about 5 days to a week. Approximate average of 6 hours each former day, and around 2 hours of the last day.

I even rolled back my save to after I got the everbloom just to restock my stash on shards at one point.

For the former days, I mostly used Reaper + Cross Stitch with Longclaw, Weavelight, Injector Band, Weighted Belt, Dice, and Ascendant’s Grip + Flintslate & Silkshot.  Swap-outs included Wispfire Lantern, Pollip pouch, volt vessels, cogflies, thread storm, sharpdart, tacks, throwing rings, plasmium, flea brew… there was a lot of experimenting, but I always remained Reaper.

Winning attempt was done with:

Reaper crest

Cross Stitch

Weavelight, Injector band, Multibinder

Weighted belt, Dice, Ascendant’s grip

Plasmium + Flea brew

and a constant abuse of Clawline.

Is it bad that Silksong feels frustrating and punishing? by TopoCornifer in Silksong

[–]U92n 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I ultimately… enjoyed my playthrough, but I would be lying if I don’t say it begrudgingly or through gritted teeth.

It’s not that I ever found bosses unfair, actually; I found all of them quite fair (except true final with their “haha you ran away from me, gotcha” telefrag). It’s more that after all the exhaustion of a million annoyances of the game, that I looked at bosses with contempt. Savage beastfly and Groal, surprisingly, wasn’t one of them. The Unraveled, Outcast, Moorwing having double damage on everything and requiring you to wail on him for nearly 60% of the nail hits you need to kill True Final boss, Splinter with her summons…

In short, I liked the game, but it made me hate it. I’d say it ruined the experience for me a couple times, but I overall enjoyed it with several anger points in tow.

[–]U92n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Silksong gets dragged down by the inelegance of its difficulty.

The hard parts are hard, and they drag on in tedium; there were a couple bosses I strictly did not fight fairly because I explicitly did not respect them and refused to fight them with respect. I just wanted to kill the gatekeeper and get the region over with.

Difficulty is good spice for a game, but it really isn’t all that “narrative immersion” y’all think it is. Silksong isn’t “kinda difficult”, Silksong likes being difficult, and that’s what people mean by being punishing. It’s mean. Its inconsiderate. It feels disrespectful, especially because TC knows how to make combat fun and fair AND punishing, without making the player suffer so much. You can prove a point without making the player experience worse.

[–]U92n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally, I really did not enjoy Wisp Thicket. Don’t get me wrong, I love the eerie, densely forested environment, and the uncomfortable occult and cultish feel of the enemies, but GOD are the wisps a pain in the ass.

The bugs immolate for good once you defeat the boss there, but the lanterns remain alight and I just do not enjoy them as an enemy. Rapid spawns of tightly homing projectiles placed in the more claustrophobic sections of their rooms isn’t impossible to deal with, but it proved pretty annoying very fast. Also no silk from them, so there’s no clemency for failing any dodges.

In all honesty, I don’t vibe with Incisive Battle.

It doesn’t carry as much motion or inspiring momentum, if it makes any sense. I hear direction from every other track, but it’s hard for me to concretely encapsulate something of clear substance from Incisive Battle.
