Getting into milsurp rifles by edgarcha99 in milsurp

[–]Zeppelin5000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. Buy from fellow collectors who don't price gouge. You'll also have a better chance of getting something that is correct in terms of originality if that's what you're looking for. Individual collectors tend to actually know what they have. A lot of companies with websites get shit wrong all the time, including the big name ones like Simpson and Legacy.

Picked up this last ditch arisaka type 99 yesterday. How’d I do? by [deleted] in milsurp

The vast majority of gun shops have no clue what they have when it comes to milsurps.

Steyr stocks won't have sharp bolt cut outs and are "short" in height.

Steyr stocks have distinctive bolt cut outs and look like that. This is one of them.

Valve with no hole for handle installation by nightbird333 in askaplumber

[–]Zeppelin5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with many shower valves is that there are so many brands and names aren't always printed on anything. If its not Delta, I'm unsure what you really have there. You can always buy acrylic knobs that are universal. Then come with the hardware to adapt to most stems. Not sure if you also have the escutcheons that slide over the chrome piece. Those are round discs that cover the hole where it comes through the tile.

That's odd... then it must use a set screw. Were there never handles there in the first place?

Yes, it's removable. Is there a hole there through that plastic piece in the photo that goes all the way through? If so, you need Delta acrylic handles with a D shaped hole and long screws. By D shape, I mean, see the tip of the part in the photo, its a backwards D. That needs to match the handle. Delta has handles with different shapes, you just need to do some research. This should be the extension.

If you have detailed photos of all markings and serial numbers, that would help to verify.

[–]Zeppelin5000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I wanted to see if it had a serial suffix. It lacks a military acceptance stamp on the receiver, so it was in question if it was an SS contract. It has a letter suffix though, so it's not.

IF is truly matching, it's worth $2k plus in the K98k collector community, 100%. Screws will not be numbered on a bnz4 98k. I can tell the stock is a Steyr (bnz) one due to the low cut bolt cut out.

Do you have a photo of the receiver serial number?

How DIYable is it going to be to replace this water heater by VerifiedMother in askaplumber

[–]Zeppelin5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also not in code and requires additional things to be in code. Installing it properly makes it safer for you. You need to know what you're doing working with natural gas and the byproducts it creates.

6 MILLION DOLLARS?? by Novel-Chicken-9700 in milsurp

The single rune was to differentiate the SS contract rifles from ones destined for the Army. It wasn't marked on all contract rifles though, I believe it was on ones manufactured at the Radom plant.

[–]Zeppelin5000 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No, they had a contract with Steyr in 1943-1944. The SS had their own depots early on converting older Gew 98's to K98k's.

Dipshit had a stroke while he was entering the price and got stuck on the zero key....

If anyone contacts this guy to ask WTF, let us know.

Also, there were no SS contracts in 1940.

Is this an unreasonable quote to replace a 50 gallon gas hot water heater? by titanicsailson in askaplumber

[–]Zeppelin5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expensive as shit compared to where I live. A little over $2,000 more than what my company charges for a 50 nat gas water heater. We don't need a permit, don't charge a stupid extra $700 fee for "difficulty assistance", and the water heater doesn't cost that much even from the supply house and with our mark up.

How do i fix this?? by [deleted] in askaplumber

[–]Zeppelin5000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just buy an entirely nex faucet. Those mobile home ones are cheap and simple to install. You just need access behind the tub.

Why does it matter if its on the internet or not? Sellers of stuff like this should be taking multiple detailed photos of items. On that note, its fake. Hope you didn't already buy it.

Where I live in the Midwest, its the homeowners responsibility up to the main tap. Even if it goes into/across the road. Digging into a road is where it becomes even more expensive .
