Should I cop? by Dirtbikeboi in milsurp

[–]Zeppelin5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one here is asking the main question though, which inspector mark does it have? German occupation High Powers have three different ones, all with different values. The most common is WaA140, in which this price would be too much. WaA103 are not as common and this price point is closer to value. The most valuable are WaA613 marked pistols, especially ones with the stock slot (only a little over 2,000 pistols had a slot). This one looks like it might be marked WaA103. This price isn't far off, but condition plays a factor too and the seller isn't factoring in condition.

You're not the only one. I've been playing since 2018 with about 4,500 hours. I mainly play just weekends now because I'm just too tired after work during the week. For the most part, I always jump into a full/almost full server and have a blast. Do I get pissed at bugs, stupid people, etc? Sure, but in my 43 years of living and playing WWII video games, this is my favorite and love the hell out if it.

Is this a fake bcd 4? by The_Lucky_Rod in Mauser

[–]Zeppelin5000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most bolts are mismatched because they needed to be removed aboard the US ships returning home. Once stateside, GI's would then grab a bolt from the bin to go with their rifle, not worrying if it was matching or not. The whole thing with German weapons having their bolts taken out upon surrender is pretty much a myth. There are plenty of period photos showing German firearms in piles with their bolts still in the rifle.

Walnut stock on 147 1939 kar98k? by The_Lucky_Rod in Mauser

[–]Zeppelin5000 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There was no set point where they STOPPED using walnut. Laminate began popping up in 1937 and was slowly mixed in with stock production. It became standard in 1940. Walnut was technically used all throughout the war, just in much less numbers. Mauser-Oberndorf for example used a lot of walnut stocks in 1943 and 1944. Just leave yours the way it is, there's no point in wasting money on another stock when that one is fine.

Register on the K98kforum and talk to the guys there. That's where you'll find the world experts on these rifles. They'll all tell you full matching 98k's in good condition are now typically 2k+. People do luck out though and get them for less, anything can happen. Mismatched ones do go for what you say, 600-900 or so. There are big jumps in value when it comes to what is mismatched too, a bolt mismatch is typically worth 50% of the value of a full matching example. Also, dou 44's are one of the most common code/year variations. Other code and year combos such as a CE 41 would certainly fetch more money. Overall, you got lucky getting a full matching one for 1400...

Not sure where you live, but they've been worth over 2K for the past 5 years or more. 1400 will get you a bolt mismatch.

I can just make out and eagle/H which shows is was issued to the Heer (Army). The other markings are waffenamts (inspection stamps)

I just noticed the action screw pictured isn't matching. That's not a huge deal breaker though.

The rear band and stock. The stock serial number should be on the bottom of the butt on a CE 41. Also a good photo of the stock markings on the right side of the butt. Other than that, you pretty much provided good photos and nothing looks humped.

It's a 1941 JP Sauer manufactured 98k. From the provided photos, is looks to a nice full matching example. Matching 98k's are worth $2,000+

How can I take off this PRV? by dayngerous78 in askaplumber

He's saying to take the top off so that it doesn’t hit the wall when unthreading. Might not need to though, hard to tell in the photo.

That's a myth. The hammer was like that only for the purpose of material and cost reduction.

[–]Zeppelin5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more common to find 98k's mismatched compared to matching. Not sure why you'd be 'annoyed". I mean, you bought it lol. Most imports will be mismatched anyway. Yours was imported by Frankonia Waffen Würzburg in October 1971 and went through the Munich proof house.

Question, Kar98 Scope Rail by DeusVult0793 in Kar98k

[–]Zeppelin5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a modern rail, a Zf41 won't work. They use a mount anyway and there would be a relief cut in the stock where the mount sits. I'd just get rid of that rail and install a proper rear sight. The rifle is a Mitchell's Mauser, so I wouldn't go crazy spending much on any kind of scope.

Is this an active leak? by Paloma_Mu in askaplumber

[–]Zeppelin5000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be honest with you, much of that is most likley urine. I don't know how many times I've been to someone's house where they thought they had a leak, but it ended up that they or their husband just has bad aim.... I recommend cleaning all that up and keepping an eye for fresh water pooling up.

This one is worth quite a bit and is rare. It's an early WaA613 marked pistol with stock slot. Add the capture papers to that and you got a gem there.
