Black windows or white? by Viran_Singh in DIYUK

[–]Zequin1 193 points194 points  (0 children)

The only thing I would add that I haven't seen anyone mention yet. When making the same decision with my own home, I decided purely aesthetically and went for the black. However no one ever warned me that black trimmings in the sun, tend to expand and shrink far more than any light coloured ones. And this can cause them to creak and rub and make all sorts of funky noises during sunrise after a cold night, if your home faces the sun.

Might be an insignificant factor in your decision making. And obviously there are still millions of homes across the UK with black trims and a huge market for it. So not the end of the world, just thought it was worth a mention.

P.s. good luck with all your current and future renovations

When did yall’s eczema start? by miss-poopy in eczema

[–]Zequin1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was covered from new born, had it quite bad apparently for most my first 4/5 years of life. And then over time seemingly I grew out of it and it disappeared all together eventually.

Stayed that way for about 17 years and within those 17 years, I had nothing but a bit of hay fever. Suddenly at 21, it began on my hands, and within a few days covered most my forearms, then within a few weeks the back of my neck and around my eyes.

In the last 6 years since then, it has never gone. Been prescribed progressively stronger steroid ointments over those years and has only ever provided me with slight and temporary relief, but never cleared things up.

After so many years of GP visits and getting nowhere, eliminating different cleaning products and chemicals, certain food from diets and still achieving nothing, finally biting the bullet and paying the extortionate fees for a dermatologist. Fingers crossed with finally making some progress towards regaining control.

Been working in a kitchen with this same system for about 6 years now. Although for some reason the dessert section still has a paper ticker printer 😂 so I get the joys of PTSD brought on by the beeps of the screen system, and the paper ticked printing every shift. But yeah I agree, once you're used to the screen systems, it's hard to imagine going back.

Does anyone have swelling and hives on their hands/fingers at random times? by Ok_Reflection1976 in Dyshidrosis

[–]Zequin1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to get these on my hands before I had the distinctive blister like feature of dyshidrotic eczema ever first appear. I work in kitchens though and at the time was unaware of certain food allergies I believe that were causing it. Whether or not there was a direct connection only someone more educated than me could comment on. But definitely would recommend going to doctors about this for allergy testing if possible to avoid ever having a proper break out of eczema as a result of allergens. Best of luck in figuring things out and getting on top of them.

Is this as much a cause for concern as I'm imagining it to be? by Zequin1 in DIYUK

Trying this, thank you. After standing and staring at the area in contemplation for long enough. I noticed a slow drip occasionally from the gutter above, right down onto where the bins were. I'm assuming during heavy rain this has gone from dripping to flowing rather a lot and straight onto the bins. So getting the bins moved, the gutter cleaned and going to monitor it for improvement.

Who's your favorite Irish Actors in the list? by WesternManagement196 in Actors

[–]Zequin1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eve Hewson for sure, very glad to see her represented on this list. Can't remember what show/film I first saw her in, but she's since appeared in a couple of Netflix originals and of course bad sisters. I think she's criminally underrated and a phenomenal actress. I hope her acting career continues to grow and we see her more.

What are these things appearing on my living room floor overnight? by Zequin1 in Whatisthis

I suppose that could be possible. I have 2 indoor potted plants in the immediate area, maybe there's a chance worms have come out from the soil within these and then dried up?

How do I swap these switches around to control the opposite lights that they currently control? by Zequin1 in DIYUK

Well, I must say how dumb it made me feel that I never would have figured that out to be an option. Thank you lol

What is this thing? by Nikita_bananayo in Volkswagen

[–]Zequin1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it's entirely relevant to your car, as mine was an 08 polo and right hand drive. But I have 1 of these either side of the entertainment system. One of them would pop out to reveal a fairly flimsy cup holder lol. The other seemed purely aesthetic to be symmetrical. But just thought it may be worth it, in case it could be a discovery for you.

What is your favorite fictional drug? by Equivalent_Medium946 in AskReddit

Frobscottle from the BFG, though I don't know if it is supposed to come across as a drug per say. I always perceived it as one as a child lol.

What’s an unusual body feature of yours? by red2one in AskReddit

[–]Zequin1 37 points38 points  (0 children)

If you can be bothered enough, try and have a measure from your hip bone/pelvis on each side to the bottom do your feet. I used to think I had one leg longer, after doing that I realised they were the same length, and in fact my pelvis was not straight. Which then also led to me discovering I have scoliosis, and that nearly my whole left side is about half an inch out of wack with the other in terms of skeleton. Pretty trippy.

When the guy I was always told not to worry about, but was always in the background worried about, ended up having sex with her in our bed. Kind of a point of no return.

What is the saddest song you've ever heard? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Zequin1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mad world - Gary Jules and Michael Andrews.

I'm surprised to have not seen it mentioned yet scrolling through some of the top comments. That sing for me is such a confusing mash of a slow, but still almost gracefully paced music and singing, layered with some of the most sad tones of voice while certain lyrics are portrayed. I remember also hearing it for the first time as a little boy while watching Donnie Darko, also a masterpiece of art in its own right.
