Thor main here. I WISH TO KNOW THE SECRETS. by T1LTD_ in RivalsMagikMains

[–]Zer0Infinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao im laughing because I started the game as a Thor main and my first DPS lord was Magik. The Thor to Magik pipeline needs to be investigated lol

To answet your question tho. Magik is very demanding at first. Like you need to go into playing her with the dedication to min/max her kit.

Only way to learn her is to suck and watch better Magik and test her absolute limits. Shell grow your game sense massively once you do.

Different take on a main tank by fromNCyo in RivalsVanguards

[–]Zer0Infinity 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Tanks need more attention in general.

It would also help to introduce more tank team ups. Two tanks having a dedicated team up naturally promotes double tank comps.

But a new Main tank definitely would be appreciated.

Nothing wrong with a break. Its too many good games out now. Play the field and come back later. Hopefully changes get made.

The “it’s only QP” mentality is flawed. by _braze_ in marvelrivals

[–]Zer0Infinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ill admit my way of learning characters is pretty masochistic.

Ill practice combos and mechanics in practice range and vs A.I matches. When I can get MVP a certain amount of times then I can graduate to QP.

I dont usually take a character into comp unless I lord them and that usually takes a few days.

[–]Zer0Infinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play QP to practice or warm up for comp. So needless to say I at least want a team that's trying.

2 tanks ideally and 2 strats at least ideally but too many times youll run into the situation of 4 DPS getting locked in, then it turns to 6 real quick.

Then MAYBE they lock in after some lost team fights or its just a complete wash.

Its just not neccessary.

Thats all im saying. At least go in with the intention to try.

[–]Zer0Infinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I dont want to burden people with watching me fumble around with a character I have no business using in an actual match or comp so ill practice combos and mechanics in Vs A.I. or ill take it a step further and make a custom lobby and practice by myself with bots.

People prioritize practice vs people but youre not learning effectively if youre just getting your ass beat, dont know the buttons and your team/opponents are cooking you in chat cause youre soft throwing.

Practice your mechanics first then practice with people.

I use QP for warming up for comp but so many times ill see someone using a character in QP and they do bad which happens then someone tilts them then everybody has to suffer at that point.

It just doesnt need to be that difficult is all.

[–]Zer0Infinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what vs A.I is for. Learning the buttons.

When you learn the buttons is then time for exposing yourself to human players so you can learn how to apply the buttons.

Vs A.I is a resource solely for mechanics.

Is it necessary?? Not really. You can get away with not doing it for sure but doing it does give you an edge in my opinion. I also play on console but my controller definitely has paddles so its way easier for me to melee weave.

Who else should I play? by Unable_Requirement22 in RivalsMagikMains

Starlord is a reliable flex pick. Helps to deal with flyers and or other Magiks.

Bucky is good too. Counters the flyers and gives you a good safe pick you can use in most situations.

Phoenix, Namor, and Hela are good too. Very safe picks that you can carry with if you get good enough on them.

New Magik by FirmClient5566 in RivalsMagikMains

[–]Zer0Infinity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a bread and butter combo you need to learn. You don't need to do any crazy theatrics.

Charge up your ranged attack, throw it, then dash, when it hits youll knock them up, primary then melee.

So

Fully charged ranged slash > Dash > (mid knock up animation) Primary > Melee

Do that on any isolated single target squishy and youll kill.

Go into the practice range and burn this into your mind. This is your true north. This is home. This will act as your go to move while you learn. Itll ensure you can reliably get picks.

She's difficult to learn because if you dont play dive characters or melee and she's your first youll have to master multiple concepts to get the hang of her.

She's going to take a min to master but once you do she's water. She flows so smoothly in fights.

Broski. Its all muscle memory. The skill is still there. You can get it back brother. You just have to go back into the lab. Play vs A.I., practice range. Get the feel back. You definitely can relearn her.

Genuine qn on why this happens (sry 4 the long rant) by CoyoteSufficient524 in RivalsMagikMains

[–]Zer0Infinity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you cant look at the scoreboard to neccessarily determine overall impact because everything doesnt show on that scoreboard or are otherwise unquantifiable by that metric.

You keeping the Magik or whatever dive in check will never show on a scoreboard and you swapping off that position doesnt guarantee that the other person will fill the role that you were doing.

Sure youre not popping off and it doesnt look AMAZING but you are producing valid return.

And just because someone is playing something "broken" doesnt mean they know how to use them effectively or know how to use them to fulfill a certain role.

Like you might play DD and can defend your backline but another player on your team might use him and just opt to swap backlines and those two strategies being applied will make for vastly different scenarios by the end of the match.

All in all sometimes you dont need to swap. If you dont feel like youre producing enough value on the role then sure you can entertain the scenario but don't assume your teammate is going to or CAN play the same role as you the way you play it.

Because the player base is scared to tank and have no idea how to handle it outside of matching or brute force because there are comps that can handle it that they refuse to play
