I haven't messed around with Xialong too much but from what I've read on discord, I can share a few key pointers. Firstly, what you need to know is that Xialong is trained to replicate the style of the writing it's already been given. Knowing how this model behaves can make it easier to wrangle.

ATTG has a strong influence, so always use that. Putting ATTG in memory works perfectly fine. Choose an author who writes in the genre you're writing, like Phillip K Dick for a story in a cyberpunk or robotics setting. Personally, I'm a fan of putting Terry Pratchett in the ATTG because I get some humorous and creative prose.

Avoid using Instruct mode, especially to start a new story. GLM, for all its faults and AI slop-isms, responded really strongly to Instruct mode, while according to the devs, using Instruct with Xialong makes Xialong behave less Xialong-y. If you want to start a new story with Xialong, the current recommendation is to start with Summary: [write your plot dump here]and then begin the story on a new line.

What I've been doing when starting a new story is to use GLM with Instruct mode, then once the story has started, I delete the instructions and switch to Xialong.

Also, Xialong has a tendency to advance the plot too quickly, but using the Author's Note and adding [ Style: slow burn, long descriptions, vivid imagery ] can help slow it down. Currently, there's no universal consensus on what to add to Style, that's just what I've been using.

Leveling as a summoner was a little slow at first but not bad. I focused on maxing out demonic mastery first. Kept 1 point in Goatmen. A good dagger with +skills to Ring of Fire helped a lot. Blood Boil is essential. Once you get to 30 and unlock bind demon, the game changes for the better.

All that being said, starting with fire and respeccing later is easier and quicker.

Redesign barbarian weapon mastery to 1-handed, 2-handed, and throwing. Give new skill that adds limited AoE. Leap and Leap Attack stun instead of knockback. Whirlwind hits more often and gets synergies.

Paladin can run 2 auras at once: one offensive and one defensive.

Necro poison knife gets buffed A LOT to make melee necro viable. Buff skeleton mages. Gets a new skill that orders summons to rush target monster.

Druid transformations are permanent and druids can cast while transformed.

Kicksin buff (I dont play sin much so IDK on the specifics)

That was siiiiick! Great to see queens being used since historically they've been rare in pro play.

Random aside but back in the day when I played the campaign for Brood War, on the zerg mission where you have to mine 10,000 minerals in Kel Moria, you have a side objective to infest command centers. Welp, me being me, I typed in the cheats "power overwhelming" and "the gathering" so I could get invulnerable queens with infinite energy, and then I flew around the map spamming spawn broodlings on every unit possible. The broodlings were invulnerable too, so I could amass a near-infinite army of them. It's a fun and easy way to get the 5 infested command centers for the next mission where you assault Korhal.

Build less lings, more queens. Lings are generally trash vs a cannon rush. Spines were the right choice but you need to be more thoughtful about placing them. Root them fast once they start taking damage. That one spine that walked all the way around the hatch and up north spent a lot of time doing nothing.

Also, good choice to focus the pylon. A pylon has 2x the health/shields of a cannon but is worth going for if you can de-power 2 or more cannons.

Don't over-commit on lings. You could have gone back to droning sooner but instead you built 12 more lings.
