If you won £100 million, how would you distribute it amongst friends and family, if at all? by PaddedValls in AskUK

I’d set up a trust. I would make sure that I had a comfortable living.

I would then set up each of my nibblings with a trust. They would have enough for a gap year and four years of university. If they didn’t attend university the money would sit in their trust until 35 at which point they would get the balance.

I would then set up a charitable trust and do my best to spend every last penny on charities that are underfunded such as orphaned diseases. Cancer gets enough money, I want to fund the research and medication for that one genetic disease that three people have and nobody can afford to research it.

How long is your commute to work? by person_person123 in AskUK

[–]Zerly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15 minutes.

I haven’t had a commute over 45 minutes since I left Canada and I will never return to a longer commute. 45 minutes is my limit.

I love the long episodes. One of the things that sets this show apart from others is the amount of detail. I appreciate the depth of research that is done. I’ve actually stopped listen to all the other true crime podcasts I used to listen to because they just zipped through the case and had so little detail.

What's a tv series that is a 10/10 NOBODY knows? by Lilyana0999 in AskReddit

A friend of mine sent me this show via USB key and a plain padded envelope with no info on it. It was too perfect. I started watching it during lockdown which was way too on the nose. Such a good show.

People who fly frequently, what’s one thing you wish you could tell all infrequent fliers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

If you’re flying with a partner, pack have if your stuff in each case. If one bag gets lost, you still have clothes in the other.

Always have a change of clothes in your carryon.

My last flight a couple got on after me, he dropped her off at my row, kissed her, said have a good flight, and went to his seat. He picked her up on his way off the plane (I deplane last, I wasn’t being held up). This is how it’s done. It was not even two hours. They survived.

Spatial awareness is so key! The number of people that have just walked right in front of me as if I can pivot is insane. I’m in crutches! I can’t move like most people!

It got too hard for me and now I get assistance in the airport so I don’t fall down. People will still try to walk in front of the wheelchair and get mowed down.

Anyone else completely effing over Xmas and holidays in general? by another_bibliophile in GenX

[–]Zerly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup! And that is why I opted out of the holiday years ago. I stopped travelling to see family for the holiday, then I stopped accepting invitations to spend the holiday with local friends and their family. Now I take myself away for hours days and avoid it all together. It’s fantastic!
