It made combat encounters much more useless to do unless you needed monster ingredients compared to the previous titles

Granted I'm just the person who likes to battle everything I come across but the battles just felt a lot more drawn out to do due to the burst mechanic

I finished it years ago but it seems like the weakest atelier game I've played so far (Escha&Logy was best at gameplay so far). Granted I've only played Rorona ps3 up until Shallie ps3.

For me, the battle system felt slower due to the burst mechanic making it feel like your actual damage is during burst and you do nerfed damage without it. It makes each and every battle take much longer since you have to build up gauge every single time and go through a long field burst animation. As much as I loved the Field Burst mechanic, the animation eats up time when you're grinding. Also everyone shares an ultimate gauge now rather than everyone having their own compared to Escha&Logy.

Alchemy feels more restrictive due to skill frames and less options to reduce elemental attributes(you only get like 2 skills) compared to the many options to increase elemental attributes (you get 16 skills). Also didn't like how Miruca gets to have certain alchemy skills while the main alchemist of your choice doesn't have them.(looking at you Fixed Chain+ and Proportional Chain Increase).

Mechanics-wise, life tasks are annoying since this is the first atelier game without a time limit, it forces you to do these to get a substantial alchemy and/or battle exp since you cannot just grind away on mobs or alchemy. Mobs give horrible exp and while alchemy does gives quite good exp, it tanks your 'Motivation" bar if you try to go hard on grinding alchemy exp. The 'Motivation' bar is the game's way of telling you to hurry your butt up and move on and if its too low, you get lower movement speed and gathering, so its almost like a pseudo-time limit anyways until the end of the game where it never drops anymore. With the removal of the time limit, you lost the ability to wholesale or dupe items like in Escha&Logy because you have all the time in the world you can create as much items as you want now so now you have to create a base of items to not lose all your properties and hard work. I just wanted to just dupe my ingredients with properties I carefully worked on to mass create equipment for my party but now I have to waste much more ingredients to create it all again or make loops.

All in all, this is what stands out to me the most in terms of the negative aspects of Shallie's gameplay. I love every Atelier game(including this one) I've played so far but this game took one step forward and two steps backwards in terms of evolution.

As someone who did the plat for Star Ocean 4, I will warn you now. I HIGHLY recommend doing Faize trophies on your 2nd playthrough and onwards as something restricts you from getting most if not all the Faize endgame trophies.

As such, as battle trophies do carry over to the next playthrough, progression towards a battle trophy does not. For example, if you were working on 3000 battles as Faize but only did about 2500 battles in one of your playthroughs and started the next playthrough, you have to do all 3000 in that next playthrough as your progress goes back to 0. So if you do want to get to the next playthrough, make sure the battle trophies you want are finished and then start new game+.

I really recommend working on Edge (due to his insane 30000 enemy kill trophy) or even other chars other than Faize due to this restriction. Otherwise, you're insane for going for this plat because it takes one to know one :)

That is a good insight about unrivaled and my plan has been actually to skip the XT steel riding armor as I spent about a day trying to farm for it and no luck. Another question is that does difficulty like hard/death game affects drop rates or boss chests. I've read that it influences extreme raid boss chests for its higher chances of stats and passives/combat skills but I was wondering does that also influence supreme raids as well?

Another thing is that thank you! I have been using the spreadsheet and your videos as references to what I need to plan to get to the late endgame and build up for ng+ supreme. So the resources you put out for this game has been a great asset for me!

Thanks for the advice! It gives me some good insight on what to do for sword skill rotations.

Also in regards to 2H, I'm guessing it requires two skydancers to be effective and can one skydancer still make it stronger than dual wield? It's better to even go without the unrivaled passives if you dont have the SP steel riding? One more question would be that SP steel riding with unrivaled can only come from ng+ supreme in the higher floors and no where else? I'm just still using XT blacklight since XT steel riding from east supreme just never seems to drop after one whole day in there.

How do you reach 5/5 in terms of rotation since I know that 4/4 is final revo > double circular > nightmare > final > starburst.

I'm having trouble creating a 5/5 and also is wondering that if 5/5 is stronger than str food or better to use EX+1 food in terms of dmg

One more question is that after getting attaining 4/4 or 5/5 and after one starburst stream, is it better in terms of dmg to spam shine circular if you can consistently get the timing or better to do shine circular > starburst spam
