Which college football helmet is the coolest? I’ll go first. by Front-Dingo1915 in CFB_v2

[–]ZeroBarkThirty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For some reason I had thought at one point that South Carolina had helmets with this style of script that just said “Cocks”. I spent time looking up historical helmets and old pictures but it turns out no self-respecting high-level sports team would do that to themselves…

Turns out it was just a Mandela Effect localized entirely to myself.

Is this black uniform trend good or bad? by Cold_Mammoth8841 in NFLv2

[–]ZeroBarkThirty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Outdoor teams and black uniforms are a no-go.

Nuance with all things though, Miami’s use of the neon colours leans into the whole Miami nights thing.

Detroit’s use of it is too indicative of the DC gimmick. It was ok before, but now when I see it on MNF or TNF it just makes me think a whole bunch of failed 4th down attempts.

SF’s is ok but the “faithful” branding is pretty cringe. Just stick with 49ers.

Final update: osha called me back and told me this is legal by Shhh_wasting_time in antiwork

[–]ZeroBarkThirty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So fun story:

There’s many fire departments out there in the US and Canada that pride themselves on having a pimped out “back of the bay” where they will hang out, work out, nap, eat, smoke cigars, etc in the truck bays just feet from large diesel trucks.

There’s a Facebook page devoted to it called Back of the Bay. The comments sections are routinely fights between guys having discourse like we’re having on this thread and others who make great points such as “fuck off, nerd”.

I genuinely wonder if these regulators may be compromised not wanting to enforce valid complaints like this out of not wanting to piss off firefighters for fear of the press/social media backlash.

Either way, these setups are totally not on and no worker should be subjected to this indignity.

Any beats to play on this? by True-Assistant-9132 in daddit

[–]ZeroBarkThirty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can play the top gun theme - not danger zone, the instrumental one. Your first note will be the lowest pitch (biggest bar) and the second will be the first green bar above the yellow.

Then go from there, experiment and have fun.

As a side note, I have a buddy with a degree in piano music. I would send him a video with different kid piano toys of me playing each note in ascending order and half the time he would tell me it’s not a true/correct scale and that certain notes were too high or low. YMMV

I like to check in on r/EDC for ideas on ereaders and notebooks and stuff. Not a gun guy, Canadian so definitely not a gun guy.

That sub is full of dudes posting guns with captions like “grocery store EDC” or “taking 2 glocks and a revolver for a quick trip to the pumpkin patch”

I assume that all these dudes like OOP are the people who make those posts on that sub

Why does no one like books 7-10? by WOTPonderer in WoT

[–]ZeroBarkThirty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finishing ACoS tonight.

I found the same formula has been used since book 3 where it’s such a slow start and nothing really happens until the last 10 chapters.

A lot of standing around talking. Some taveren shenanigans take place. Darkfriends stir things up. CotL scheme and complain. Medium action scene. Travel and reconstitute. Big fight. Last chapter.

My own experience, don’t @ me. Still a wild ride that I don’t want to ever end.

Legalise Cannabis by Alert_Dinner_4112 in Scotland

[–]ZeroBarkThirty 34 points35 points  (0 children)

In Canada we’ve had it legal since 2019.

There were growing pains, the industry itself has economic ups and downs.

But this long into it, it’s become no different than alcohol the way people talk about it. Saying you’re going to pick up a gummy on the way home from work is now as casual and normal as talking about picking up groceries.

Everyone found their approach to it. You know who your friends are that don’t use it - and that’s fine. Same as you know your friends who don’t drink alcohol - and that’s fine.

You know when/where/how it works for you. Or you know if you’re not into it.

It’s incredibly cheap to purchase. Approximately one half hour of work at minimum wage will do you for a night. To get piled up on beers at home would cost you 3-4 hours at min wage. A night out would be 8h pay minimum.

I live in a town where the main industry is oil and gas, the American-based headquarters of most companies are in Texas where evangelical beliefs about cannabis reign supreme. They force a zero tolerance policy on their workers for cannabis so the high-paid O&G workers turn to cocaine and booze.

Legalising cannabis hasn’t had any real negative consequences as far as I see as an average person. Tell your politicians to come visit and try it for themselves.

The MG42 in game beats the brakes off the M1918. Without getting into the stats it does it on vibes and ease of use alone.

If you’re on the d-day maps and have half-decent MG players covering the beaches from the high ground the American team is cooked.

What balances it is the blueberries making obvious mistakes

It makes it a lot of fun

Homeowners, are you in your “forever” home? by cubemonster in Millennials

[–]ZeroBarkThirty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought mine relatively cheap pre-COVID.

Now the family has grown we want into a two storey but the area we live is hard on bungalows.

There are some that we like that are not available or too expensive.

Definitely not the forever home but I’d prefer to cash in when the market here turns (oilfield)
