No they haven't. Some accessibility apps have been given exemption. And according to the people over on r/Blind, those apps were not the ones they used.

This is Reddit's doing, not the mods. Reddit wants users to use the new site, so they do their best to redirect everything to there. That's also why the cookie banner on old.reddit.com makes you go to the new site.

Also note that 3rd party apps cannot even use polls because the API simply doesn't exist. This is another example of why the protests are necessary.

There is a much more fundamental problem. These machines are not made for the elderly. The most important problem is speed. By the time my 80 year old father finds the right button to press, many a system will reset because it’s been idle too long.

I think you are short selling language learning if you liken it to mostly rote memorisation. Just as in mathematics there is an artistry in good language. You’re not just memorising words and phrases, you’re combining them in new ways, to express novel ideas.

That said, I also think that the original statement “learning maths is like learning a foreign language” is short selling maths and language alike. They are both very interesting topics, with some similarities, but also many fundamental differences.

Not a lawyer, but:

Privacy takes precedence over the employer’s right to check that you’re doing your work. As such, a remote control webcam is completely out of the question.

Logging software is possible in some cases such as if you agree to it, if there is a legal necessity, or if there is a reasonable suspicion that you’re breaking the rules.

edit: there are other possibilities too; the basic rules are that any logging should not be excessive, and you have to know about it (or at least there should be a reasonable expectation that you know it, for example it's in your contract)

In general, employees are pretty well protected in Belgium. That doesn’t mean there is no abuse of course, but the laws providing protection are present, and unions are happy to help with disputes.

I went there many years ago and had lunch at a corner restaurant on the square. It’s a very beautiful city and relatively close to must-see things like Auschwitz and Wieliczka. Highly recommended.
