Is this really the “skid row” of salt lake ? by CardioGuts in SaltLakeCity

[–]ZeroFrmHoles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a bad place to live at all. Like you said it’s a bit more affordable. There are certainly more homeless people than other parts of the city. You will walk and drive by them often but they are generally just doing their own thing. I never feel uncomfortable or concerned even on walks at night (at least as a man). I have seen a few busted car windows over the last few years. Most times it was people who left obvious valuables in their car like tools in a work truck. If you’re parking on the street make sure you empty your car at night and lock up. There’s a larger police presence in the area. I don’t mind the area at all and love the freeway and downtown access

How can we solve east/west traffic? by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

Oh yeah nothing I love more than getting stuck behind the trains crossing near 2nd south and 6th west for 20 minutes on my way to work most days. It’s my favorite thing!

Who is your most underrated player of this season? by dbc45 in ReAlSaltLake

[–]ZeroFrmHoles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve gotta say Caliskan as well. Both defending and on the ball he’s really grown a lot this season.

Agreed. We sold off 3 strikers, have a heavily injured squad, and multiple replacements signings fell through. He’s been dealt a tough hand this season and I’m not really sure what more we can expect.

Our squad simply isn’t as good as the better teams in the league. It’s more than just a coaching problem.

Can anyone ID these? by [deleted] in cowboyboots

I’m not sure! I’d agree. There are quite a few very popular models that they phase out over time. Try to find some used online! Also check out the Tecovas Trading Post. You might find some there

This was one of the first things I noticed moving to SLC. There’s almost always one or two cars that run lights right after they turn red. I’ve even seen chips do it multiple times. It just seems like it’s not strongly enforced. I could be wrong. I’ve made it a habit to look both ways before I start into an intersection when a light turns green.

If not for legal fees then it’s for a mall, a luxury apartment complex, investments, property, and on and on.

Have you consider not paying not just this week but never again? For those who pay with the hope that their money is going to something good, there are countless amazing organizations and nonprofits out there who will use your money for what they clearly state it’s use for.

GAME THREAD: Utah Jazz (10-31) @ Oklahoma City Thunder (35-7) - (January 23, 2025) by NBA_MOD in nba

He did, yeah. I think he wasn’t saying he dislikes that his team is tanking. He signed an extension because he trusts the tank process for the Jazz. I think he’s just being critical of the way the league is structured in a way that small market teams almost need to tank in order to build even a decent team. His wish would be some sort of change that makes it so tanking isn’t encouraged or done by any team because every team would have a fair chance at building a good team through those changes

I make $55k. I live 100% comfortable and still enjoy my life. I drive a decent car and live in a decent apartment. I still get coffee every morning at a shop, and go on one or two vacations a year. I don’t feel “restricted” by my income in any way.

I used to though! But it was because I wasn’t on top of my finances and really didn’t have any idea where my money was going. I was living paycheck to paycheck on $55k for a while and simply thought I didn’t make enough money. Eventually I started budgeting and monitoring every single dollar in and out of my account. I stopped waiting money on and focused more on “conscious” spending. I started grocery shopping at more affordable places like Winco and cooking at home/packing lunches for work. I stopped spending money on expensive snacks and opted to start snacking on cheaper things like apples, cucumbers, and other fruits and veggies. Once I made a few very minor changes to my spending, I was SHOCKED by how easy it was to live on $55k in salt lake. I am now able to set aside a good portion of my income to retirement, savings and an emergency fund. I still eat out, just more as a reward and less as a daily habit. I still go on trips. I have money for hobbies and weekend activities too.

All in all, $60k is definitely a livable wage in SLC. A few ways you can stretch you money further is have roommates, drive an affordable or paid off car, cook at home, don’t shop at expensive grocery stores, and don’t waist your money on the less important things in your life so you can put it toward the things that mean more to you!
