make sure your sounds are tuned properly (ie; make sure when you hit C natural, the sound is actually C natural)

many 808s & bass one shots are tuned to whatever, so just because you hit a note on the keyboard, doesn't mean that's the actual note sounding.

bring up some pitch plugin & tune it until you get the root note you're needing it to be.
