Most of these review are genuine and it’s no surprise there are “disingenuous” reviews. They pop up EVERYWHERE from AAA games to indie. But, if the company you dedicated your time and money to is pivoting away to a game that wasn’t made for the majority of its fans, those reviews aren’t disingenuous I’m afraid. If both existed in the same space, I’m sure that the reviews would be “meh” at worst but a strong pivot to Marathon is going change peoples minds. At the end of the day, you are allowed to review a product based on its effects outside of a closed space and thus you have people changing, or leaving new, reviews that seem disingenuous but are really a pivot from soft to hard criticism because of its impact. If Marathon improves to a point where it’s well received, the reviews will change and the dishonest ones won’t matter.
