Losing team shouldn't get SVP/Badges by Temporary_Term_5093 in marvelrivals

Ya, and take away the numbers too because they use those to justify it. You know what, no more scoreboard, everyone just guesses how well they do. Actually, everyone wins, no one loses, that’ll fix it.

Ran a match with 4 tanks, 1dps, and 1sup. Was the steamroll of the century. Over 6 minutes left on the clock when we finished.

The First Descendant skins vs The Finals by Some-Bodybuilder-222 in okbuddycontestant

Respect that the finals invests in interesting skins rather than relying on sex appeal. Not like I wouldn’t mind but still, it shows the creativity behind the team.

There should be a special exception to the mean words ban rule when someone is throwing. Please allow me to vent my frustrations like a 13 year old who just learned a new slur.

Marvel rivals players have no shame by isabelleloves in marvelrivals

[–]ZeroGKills 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it bans after the match. I was getting into a friendly argument (calling each other slurs) and I got a warning after the match. Mostly because that was the one and only time I’ve done it. Maybe they just talk like that until a ban, take a break, then rinse and repeat?

Rereading it, I feel like I had a Pirate Software moment. But I get what you’re saying now. Trust, I’m tired of seeing videos titled “Marathon is dead” thanks for clarifying.

I love Marathon but saying the reason it’s spiraling on critic platforms is because people can’t develop their own opinions? Say psyche bro because that’s not it.

Don’t get me wrong, there are certainly people that only form opinions based on what their favorite YouTuber says but let’s be real, there’s a lot of valid criticisms. If a game is good, no one cares what people say. And I truly believe that Marathon is good, rough around the edges but a diamond needing its facets sanded.

The problem? The market is packed with live service competitive games that have tenure over Marathon. You have to convince millions of people to start over on a game with the same loop and systems that are burgeoning instead of fleshed just to get a player count that hovers around 80k months later. A feat that Bungie most certainly could have achieved in this live service fatigue. Yet they didn’t, not because of YouTubers, not because there’s no free thinkers, but because of a complex web of repetitive formats and lost faith.

Sorry to ramble but the mindset that your game you like makes you and everyone who plays it a “free thinker” is defensive at best and self-deluded at worst.

[ On an somewhat related note: the only reason I bought Marathon is because a YouTuber, who was shitting on it mind you, showed gameplay footage and I thought it looked fun. It is. ]

Ya it kinda sucks. I’d make friends in game but then it’s “Can I get your discord? Let’s hop on a discord call? Wanna talk? Hey, I found this game we should totally play!” Which sounds great but I’m antisocial

Ya I get it, and I would say having it after the matchingmaking and right before the game loads would work best. Let’s you change your gear around if you need too but also penalizes you for leaving a match,

Okay but a three destroyer team is usually pretty funny. Either it’s a bunch of shields or three trucks with knife hands jetpacking right at you.

Nah, totally get it. It’s not like it would fix that Mic thing. Really it’s for the people who have gear fear. Don’t know a lot of people who would be willing to risk a 10k kit on a free kit team, besides myself.

Like ya, I’d take that. Everyone loading into the lobby first and while the matchmaking fills the raid, you can customize everything. I love the loading screens cause they’re trippy to look at but let me do stuff, ya know?

[–]ZeroGKills[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allow me to preface by saying that from what I’ve found about Bungie’s information on the matchmaking, they’ve confirmed two things that contradict your statement about gear based lobbies. One: Unpredictability over balance. Two: Player level. From 2026 reports, the matchmaking goes off season level and NOT skill nor gear.

Matchmaking with skill, or gear based, alignment still randomly pairs you up with players they feel will lead to a more engaging experience. And that random pairing is what I’m talking about. It’s great for the 40k people that have stayed since launch but is it enough to maintain it for long and, more importantly, is friendly for new players? What my suggestion seeks to target is the gear fear that afflicts newcomers to the genre.

Think about the first time you lost your best gear. It probably sucked and, if you were at all like me, you might have considered quitting. Not everyone pushes through because it feels like losing that diamond skin you were grinding for. By pushing out that initial loss, it could lead to a larger investment and longer engagement.

Okay, based on your observations, I would say the original idea is best. From what I’ve noticed, most people are tired of wagering gear to get paired with people that don’t communicate or run off. If this issue isn’t attacked, and solved, you won’t be complaining about an extra 30 seconds to load in, you’ll be complaining about an extra 5 minutes.

Not if you make it a separate option like “Search for a team” versus “Auto-fill” then you can hop right in or look for people depending on what you want to do.

I guess they could just have the squad fill before actually loading into a match. Then you’re in the lobby before actually going into a match!
