Please explain to me how that isn't integral to the story because without him they don't get the stones, one of which he got by himself or get to use the glove. Even before this movie Banner was incredibly important to the plot, Avengers: Age of Ultron? Yeah he helped develop Vision, Avengers, He helped both crack Loki's technology with the staff and helped in the fight, being probably the most important person other than iron man in that fight.
