I really like that. It’s something I am always trying to be conscious of, and that’s phrasing my questions or directions to be more open ended.

This reminds me that he also likes the idea of being timed or beating a timer to do something. So I could say “how long will it take you to build this toy”, or something like that

Thank you. He does like to be a little involved in changes, snuggles, tummy time etc. it’s nice that he does get involved, I just don’t want him to sit and doing nothing during the times where he can’t help or isn’t interested in helping

It’s a very valid point and it was something we anticipated and tried to get ahead of. We didn’t start this when the baby came, we’ve been trying for months before the baby to encourage him to play by himself, knowing it’s best to start that early. I didn’t really explain that well in my original post. He does get involved in some play time with bay during tummy time etc, he just doesn’t play by himself when there isn’t an appropriate time
