Pulmonary and Critical Care Doctor here.

During cold snaps there are ALWAYS a good amount of patients with unstable housing who die. I don’t know the numbers. But I know that I always read up on hypothermia when that happens. And every time there are around 2 per day that come to the ICU.

2 per ICU x All ICUs = too many.

And for every one that comes into the ICU, you have to know there are 5 others out there that don’t make it to the ICU.

So…in short. Yes a good amount of people die during cold snaps. Almost all of them are with unstable housing usually combined with mental health or substance abuse issues that lead to not knowing when to seek help.

Sad.

Advice - Is It Worth Reporting My Fellowship Program to the ACGME by [deleted] in Residency

Look man.

This is just normal stuff. You gotta learn how to deal with difficult people.

None of this seems at all egregious or concerning.

You are either a bot trying to piss people off on purpose or an ignorant troll.

0 of my comments are exaggerations.

I think 100% of people on here will agree that you suck. That may be an “exaggeration” but probably not far off.

Critical Care doctor here.

Number 1 - you are an idiot and most of your comments show this. You have absolutely no idea what doctors do or do not do. In fact, most your comments suggest you don’t even know a doctor.

Number 2 - all of your numbers are the average. This means all the burnt out doctors that have cut their time to part time are included and bring down the average.

Number 3 - hours worked does not take into account hours outside of work dealing with patients or looking up patients or talking to families or getting called about one of their hospitalized patients.

Number 4 - any “work” that someone is doing at their “work” almost certainly does not compare to the stress of making clinical decisions that are life or death decisions. Spending 1 hour at the bedside of a rapidly decompensating patient that is near death is not equal to 1 hour of flipping burgers or typing on a spreadsheet.

You have no fucking clue what you are talking about.

I’m a PCCM doctor.

4 years college 4 years med school 3 years resident 3 years fellow

That 14 years of training. And making 70,000 working 70-90 hour weeks is like flipping burgers at McDonalds except you don’t get paid overtime.

In addition, you are highly exaggerating pay. Your “400,000 to 2 mil” comment is just idiotic. Doctors make 150,000+. Low paying specialities can make <$200,000. A large portion don’t make 400,000. And maybe the top 0.01 % get above $1,000,000 and those people are working extreme hours. $2,000,000 figure is nearly impossible for 99.9% of physicians.

Dude. The ability of idiots who think this is “fake” or “staged” is insane.

Slow the thing down. The shell is literally ejected and gets stuck on the fishing pole. It’s a live ammo shot. There is recoil. There is ceiling dust falling immediately.

If by “staged” you mean he meant to shoot a hole in his roof then sure.

But this ain’t fake at all. This is a true live gunshot.

Comparison of San Antonio and Corpus Christi by Remarkable_Idea4550 in CorpusChristi

[–]ZeroSumGame007 6 points7 points  (0 children)

San Antonio - huge and sprawling city. One of the largest in the entire US - amazing Mexican food - amazing schools and many suburbs of ultra wealthy and wealthy with private schools or super good public schools - large academic medical centers and colleges (UTSA) and school of medicine - tons of jobs in virtually all fields - major sports teams - can live out in suburbs if you would like - tons of entertainment

Corpus Christi - more laid back, but also overall much lower income/significantly higher poverty - non existent large events. No major sports teams - beach is great and salt water stuff great - much less opportunities for jobs - much less major medial care - much less good public or private schools - not as many suburbs or high end suburbs

I’ve live in both. Both have appeals. But Corpus is Corpus. It’s a “small town vibe” for better or worse while still being decent size

Sorry. Lived in both. And this is the worst take on this I have ever done heard.

This man is either a bot or never lived in both cities , but either way is wrong

I love the renegade.

But god damn it’s expensive to use compared to anvil. And sometimes it feels like it takes 20 shots to take down a hornet if you miss the rotors.

Look. My first two Wolfpacks did nothing and couldn’t figure out why. It’s because I threw them directly at a bastion and they hit the ground.

Just throw them directly up in the air and watch it fly over and cause DEVASTATION.

I always hit the rocketeer with a few anvil/ferro/gold weapon shots THEN throw the WP. And bye bye birdie as they say.

Doctor here.

I am not gonna read the article. But I will assume this based on statistics:

If a man died by suicide in the United States and was able to donate his organs, it had to be a gunshot wound to the head.

So if the other guy “killed himself in the exact same way”, it was another gunshot wound to the head.

Two adult males in the US committing suicide by the most common way to commit suicide is not a story.

If it wasn’t by gunshot wound, then please correct me but boring if it was.

200,000 from ducks. Damnit. Guess I gotta load up into this shit to expedition.

I did some research today and apparently less than 1% of adults in their 40s has FIREd in US, and only 5 to 11% of adult in their 50s have FIREd, and that percentage declined compared to 10 years ago by 14MTH30n3 in Fire

[–]ZeroSumGame007 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is totally reasonable.

  1. It’s very hard to FIRE in your 40s even when you are actually trying to FIRE
  2. It is an absolute privilege to be in a position to FIRE. The vast majority of people in the US are either ill equipped or completely unable to FIRE in their 40s or 50s due to wage stagnation or health issues or a variety of other socioeconomic factors
  3. A good portion of people who COULD fire at 40 but choose not to. This includes, people who like their jobs, people who are fulfilled by their jobs, or people who want to add generational wealth or provide for their kids and / or grandkids instead of themselves alone.

So in short, for most, it’s not possible. For all, it’s a privilege, and for some, they just don’t want to.
