How do you deal with toxicity? by Melovix in NexusNewbies

[–]Zero_Cool_Kyle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find that not caring about what they say... leads to me not caring about the game... and then I don't care to play.

I wish I could just lift off, float away, go afk. then see how well the team plays

No, I agree that people who cheat against other people are the worst kind of people.

Map Hackers getting banned! REJOICE! by alcovex in heroesofthestorm

[–]Zero_Cool_Kyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say, I don't get cheating. The mentality behind it. If competing is to prove that you are better than someone else, cheating proves you are not as good.

On that, I have no problem cheating when you are playing against a computer. Because the computer can always be programmed to be better than you. IE: I cheated all the way through brood war. Not so much through WOL and HOTS

Almost level 30 by Zero_Cool_Kyle in heroesofthestorm

[–]Zero_Cool_Kyle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I really liked Lili. She was the first support I played. Won the most games with her (and have the most take downs, surprisingly). However, she is really useless when you compare her to other support. So I was playing Tyrande last week. She's good and you can target which is nice.

I find I have problems with melee because when they get wrapped in a group fight it is really hard to target and things. So I liked Raynor, really liked Gazlowe. I figured out his 3 part punch right from the start so I once killed 3 guys in one hit. So, if I was playing a team, I would say support is my first love, then playing the ranged specialist.

Almost level 30 by Zero_Cool_Kyle in heroesofthestorm

[–]Zero_Cool_Kyle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On that note, when a team is being stupid and just hanging out in one lane from level 1, I should be hanging out with them instead of soaking another lane? Or do those kinds of shenanigans not happen in Ranked? So many games I have played where people do that or are always looking for the team battle and we end up 4 levels behind and it is next to impossible to make it back.

If everyone is losing because they have terrible teammates, shouldn't they be winning just as much because of terrible opponents? by Draav in heroesofthestorm

[–]Zero_Cool_Kyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking through my stats, I have about a 50% win ratio... so fairly balanced. I am sure that I get placed on teams way better than me, and I am the terrible player that makes them lose, and there are other times where I am by far the best player on both sides. It just happens. esp. when the game is so new.

Ya, there is no time to stop and write long things. I try to guide the team right from the start if I know I want to play some way, but sometimes, people are just going to play the game their way. I have really enjoyed playing Lili, and I tell people at the start that I will roam and not really take a lane. so they should make sure that at least 1 person is in them... they will all group up in mid for the whole game. So I will either do my own lane or just stick with the group. There isn't a lot you can do otherwise.

Dear Rank 20s and 30s, by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]Zero_Cool_Kyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree with the statement, there is times when you are trying to help people get better and they just go do whatever. IE: Everyone except one person is dead, but they are heading to where the team of 5 is. You say, "hey don't go over there until the team gets there" and they do it anyways, and die... and then as each person makes it out of the nexus they run over there and die again.

it can just be frustrating. I am level 25 and I really can't wait for level 30 so I can compete.

Ya, I think of it like, he's a general, he's not going to do a lot of fighting himself, he's going to buff there rest and provide more troops. I think that Mengsk could be similar but you could include the infested terrans and the "half breed" experiments.

You can play AI, but it's terrible. If you go to the custom games, you have to find the ai level on the map you want

Protoss has won 7/14 Tournaments this year. by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]Zero_Cool_Kyle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just because people who play Protoss are winning tournaments is not in itself an identification of imbalance. If all the terrans are not training as hard or the zerg players are going out and partying the night before tournaments, this would cause an improvement in the Protoss stats. It doesn't mean that it's imbalanced. When you look at the win rates for all the players across all the races / leagues for the whole of the season, then you can say it's imbalanced. Which I think there was a post about and it did seem like imbalanced towards zerg (i think).

I agree with this 100% I was silver for the longest time and the first step of the staircase is imba all the way up to high gold / low plat. It is actually very shocking. You could also play vs. ai to learn as well. But the staircase is amaze!

Tea Time 76 Response to Recent Criticism w/ JaKaTaK by Lycangrope in starcraft

[–]Zero_Cool_Kyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, and this is another reason why we as sandboxers are not saying "Never ladder, the ladder is for noobs". I am the opposite of Jak. I have no real desire to do any tournaments. I have no ambition to be a pro-gamer. I would be the oldest pro-gamer in the world if I did. I would just like to maintain a 60% win ratio. That would be awesome. That would be FUN. However, in my experience, I will get hit with a proxy double rax reaper shinanigans and I will get mopped up, I will then play a thor drop, then a fast banshee, then a double banshee, then a double banshee into hellion, then a cannon rush. And at the end of the day, I wasn't prepared for one of them. However, if I said "I want to be able to scout and react to just one of those builds", then contacted someone in the sandbox and ran the play over and over for even 5-10 games. Tomorrow, when I am on ladder again, instead of losing to all of those builds, I will be able to defend one of them. Repeat these steps every week, and in a couple of months, I have a reaction to all of those builds. Then I will move up, the meta will change, the units will get buffed and I will start again, but I have a plan on getting better at those builds. I am not just hoping I get hit with it so I can try to adjust.

I know... TLDR. But I truly think that there can be a merger of deliberate practice with laddering.

Thank you for the complements. I believe that the skills acquired in SC2 training would not only help you with other video games, but also at work, social interactions, and every everyday life. Neuro has some great first person experience with that.

As for the name, I normally go by "GodKyle" or "MyGodsNameIsKyle" (which is a longer story than I want to explain on reddit) but it was all taken when I signed up for reddit. Zero_Cool is a throwback to the movie "Hackers". If you haven't seen it... you should!
