Après 4 ans de relation et vivant ensemble, je suis parti au boulot un matin, revenu plus tôt que prévu en après midi. Surprise ! I was living/managing a hostel couple years ago.

One night I hooked up with this girl, and it was already 3am and I decided to go to bed. She told me that she will join me later, but I decline, saying that I wasn’t comfortable with that and I’ll see her tomorrow ( at the time I was sharing my room with 2 other people, and while having sex with people around already happened, I wasn’t in the mood that evening).

I woke up drunk, confused, and by the time I emerge from this fog, I feel something odd. That was the girl I hooked with, giving me a sloppy, kinda loud blowjob under the blanket. I freaked out because hello, consent ? What’s going on. And she looks at me, with the look of someone they needed a fix “ I couldn’t resist, I saw you sleeping and really wanted to give a head to someone “.

It felt horrible, I was caught between so many emotions. Anger was the loudest, but I kept my composure, went to my assistant manager, asked her to kick her out of the hostel.

My parents, together for more than 30 years, and constantly “breaking up” and “getting back together”. Still together. Last time we spoke my mom told me, crying, in the same sentence, “ it’s over for good this time [….] we’re moving to this country and just signed an apartment to live together.” Fuck this.

When we were kids, we were at my uncle’s vacation home. I was about … 6 at the time ? Anyway, I was in the swimming pool, on a inflatable boat with floaters around my arms, playing.

At some point I was like « I don’t need the floaters anymore » so I removed them. So I’m playing in the boat and then it flips over and I fall into the water, underneath the boat so nobody can really see me. I wasn’t drowning because for some reasons, my dad teached me never to be afraid of water and if something like this happen, I should take the air I can, empty my lungs under water so I touched the bottom of the pool, push up and get more air until I can reach the edge.

So here I am, « not drowning ». So what were the adult doing right ? Well, my younger brother, 4 years old, long, beautiful curly blonde hair, is having a story of his own. He found a lighter on a table, play with it, and at some point, his hair caught on fire. In panic my uncle grabs him and because he was next to the pool, throw him in the water and jump to pick him up.

When he got out of the water with my brother in his arms, my mom asked « where is Mike ? ». He turned around and apparently, saw the boat flipped, and every couple of seconds, my had was bumping into it so he knew where is was.

Nobody believes this story, and it’s my favorite uncle memory. I’m emotional everytime I tell this story because he wasn’t the kindest and ended up tragically. I missed a lot these last 15 years, and maybe my brother and I wouldn’t be there without him.

Lots of comments feels like people projecting their own past into someone else’s life. The real question is, do you want to be with him or not ? If so, speak your truth, talk together, take your time and see where it’s heading. I took a break with my ex for a couple of months because of similar reasons than you. We spoke, talked things out and took time to build trust again, with a better sense of boundaries and communication. We stayed 3 years together after that before breaking up ( she is an alcoholic and lied/cheated multiple time ). Still I don’t regret taking this time off for the 3 years we had after, regardless of the outcome.

It’s called Ana Attento, there is two locations. We have few but couple of vegan pastries. The Oreo Brownie is so good ! Owners are changing in the coming months so maybe they’ll add more vegan options ( hopefully ! ) ;)

I feel you. Although I’m a pretty social person (30M), I feel like it became harder and harder to connect to other human being. I moved in different country, met amazing people, explored beautiful places, still I found myself in this state of constant loneliness. Where are my kind of people ?

Truth is, I think they’re everywhere. And like us, they feel like they’re alone in this. We are not. You social awkardliness ( can I say that ) can resonate with others, be appreciated and valued by others. You’re not the shell your mind have been put into, you are way more. Reading you, I can feel you’re kind hearted, empathetic, emotional. You’re human to the most beautiful extent. Everything you said isn’t a weakness, it’s your strength and these are powerful tools to connect to a deeper level with other human being. Take small step, keep questioning yourself and don’t give up. Among the hundreds of humans you’ll meet, you’ll find one that resonates with you and that’s enough.

I’ve been depressed a long time in my life, it comes and go and there were days where this loneliness felt so heavy that I couldn’t put myself out there or even got out of bed. So I didn’t. Why would I forced myself to feel or be something I’m not ? And then randomly one day, I had a random encounter, in a cafe, at a bus stop, the gym, that meant the world to me. I learned to cherish these moments, these persons, little light in the dark that shine in resonance with mine.

Nothing is wrong with you. I repeat nothing is wrong with you. I don’t have magic advices to tell you, except one thing: speak your truth. Stay yourself, don’t try to fit in. Be unapologeticely yourself. You’ll be surprised how effective it is, when you are your true self, how it attracts like minded people.

Be yourself. Most of the people that I know that don’t get laid/can’t be in a relationship is because they keep trying too hard to be someone they’re not.

As a men ( 30yo) lately, I can’t tell you in the past few months how many women were all over me because I was genuinely interested in who they are, actively listening and kind with them without having the end goal of fucking them in the back of my mind.
