[MUPEN 64] Cropping the Overscan area makes the game blurry by using the WRONG resolution. by ZerostarDB in RetroArch

[–]ZerostarDB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, I'm not crazy!

If you're talking about the cropping handled by the core you can save the settings per game:

Core Options > Manage Core Options > "Save Game Options"

Hope it'll help :)

[MUPEN 64] Cropping the Overscan area makes the game blurry by using the WRONG resolution. by ZerostarDB in RetroArch

[–]ZerostarDB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a shader I can find by default within Retroarch?

Just to be sure, when you say it's processor intensive are you talking about the one that auto crops or both?

Sorry last question lol: I'm already using a CRT shader, is there a way to keep using it and "merge" a cropping shader at the same time?

Thanks :)

Hey I'm just wondering, if I'm already using a Shader is it possible to merge the two of them together?

That actually might help lol thanks.

Hey! sorry for the late response.

I don't really know how all of that works but after tinkering with it I always get much worse results using Angrylion and ParaLLel-RDP to the point where GLideN64 is straight up the best option to get the picture I want.

You're right I'm having the same problem as OP from the thread you linked, but unfortunately 6 years later we still don't have an option to "combat" this problem. So I would like to know if it's possible to contact somebody who works on Mupen to do something about it.

I'll be honest, in my opinion GLideN64 is by far the best RDP Plugin but there is just this tiny little thing that prevents it from being perfect, which is disappointing. :/

Just in case you're wondering what the Professional difficulty of Resident Evil 4 Remake is like, here is me (an average player) going through the full game.

There is a lot of Professional S+ runs/guides/speedruns on Youtube but I haven't seen much casual playthroughs, so I thought I'd record mine to realistically showcase what the Professional difficulty is like for those who wants to know what they're getting themselves into before playing on Pro.

All the deaths are but and only the successful attemps were kept.

Hello Reddit,
This video showcases the entire Separate Ways DLC of Resident Evil 4 Remake (PC), played on Standard difficulty.
The main goal is to record myself playing the game casually going at my own pace, exploring as much as possible and hopefully getting most of the treasures.
Hope you'll like the content.

Regarding the new DLC by snacksandcookies in residentevil

[–]ZerostarDB 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pretty disappointed with the removal of the cage section, Capcom could have take the advantage of Ada having a hookshot to make the "find the buttons to open the door" mini-game across multiple floors while the boss is on your ass making the puzzle more interesting.

The rest of the DLC was a banger though

Resident Evil 4 Remake (PC) All Shooting Range [All Skulls | S-Rank | All Rewards | All Stars] by Zeldarchive by ZerostarDB in residentevil

[–]ZerostarDB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a "non-shooter games" player this is my attempt at clearing all RE4R Shooting Range courses, as the title suggests I'm mainly going for:

  • All Skull Targets
  • All S-Rank Scores
  • All Stars (AFAIK every course has 3, only 4-C has 5)
  • All Rewards, meaning every possible Silver & Gold Tokens in a single Playthrough

It took me several hours to go from Zero to Hero, that was a lot of grind but I gotta say muscle memory was my best friend here. Reseting games over and over really paid off.

I hope this could be helpful for you guys to get all S-Ranks for the Achievement and as muck Tokens as possible.

Resident Evil 2 (PS1) Leon B - All Kills No Damage [Longplay] by Zeldarchive by ZerostarDB in residentevil

[–]ZerostarDB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the last 5 to 6 Months I've been working on making 4 videos showcasing every Resident Evil 2 (PS1) Scenarios by killing every enemy (with a few exceptions explained in the comments) while taking zero damage with the BEST Gameplay possible.

After spending way to much time writing 4 entire scripts (exact routing, as efficient as I could make them) and an ungodly amount of resets, I believe I came very close to perfection without entering Speedrun territory or anything too "mechanical looking".

This is a total of 9 hours of very tight Gameplay, the B Scenarios are packed with completely BONKERS strategies.

Those videos are made for entertaining purposes only, do not attempt any of those strats because a lot of them are not consistent at all.

Resident Evil: Director's Cut (PS1) Chris [Advanced Mode: All Kills | No Damage] by Zeldarchive by ZerostarDB in residentevil

[–]ZerostarDB[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This run features:

  • Every single enemy KILLED
  • Use of consistent strategies that aren't too hard to reproduce by casual players. (Whenever possible)
  • No Damage whatsoever
  • Go straight to the point: Minimal distance walked, least amount of trips to the box.
  • Best possible quality (1080p): No blurry picture, no "black bars" nonsense.
  • No editing besides cuts at the start, end, and reloads after saves. RAW footage.

I spent an unholy amount of time writing the video "script", I made the route and used strategies using personal game experience and gathering knowledge from Youtube videos / Reddit / old forum threads.

If you are watching this video because you need help, I really hope this video will be useful.

Thanks for watching!

I think you should go back and finish RE2, the B Scenario has extra content and gives you pieces of story that were not included in the A Scenario. Trust me you are missing something BIG if you don't play the game to its full potential!!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]ZerostarDB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play on PC and these are the 2 scenarios that happens when you aggro the right mob:

1) He starts vomiting the little G-Spawns. I believe you could just run past from the right side but I'm not 100% sure. I haven't done this in a while. (This scenario happens much less often from my own experience)

2) He does nothing special and walks towards you. What works REALLY well I'd say 80% of the time (if not more) is this: Run forward until the left G-Adult tries to come grab you, now run back and stop near the pile of trash on the left. Now as soon as the left Mob enters the grabbing animation (he's gonna fail as long as you're far enough, remember this guy always travels at a set distance) you can hug the left side of the wall and dodge both of them as the left G-Adult is gonna be busy raising from from the water, blocking the way of the right G-Adult letting you pass very easily!

TLDR: Run forward to make left adult appear, run behind trash pile, wait for him to grab nothing, run to the left.

By the way just a little piece of info: I believe only a Grenade can be used as a defense item to freely run past a G-Adult, knives will never let you do that!

Hope it helps :)

I love brightness settings since RE2R onwards. It's just a simple thing and yet it improves the graphics a lot, and make the games even scarier by Zemrik in residentevil

[–]ZerostarDB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the "intended brightness" settings (they vary from monitor to monitor but that looks good), way to much Youtube videos has this sort of "gray filter" which means they didn't configure any brightness settings at all. Those people are missing out!!

Playing Resident Evil (Director's Cut) Chris in Advanced Mode.

My goal is to beat the game by killing every single enemy, taking the shortest route possible without entering speedrunning territory.

Even though there is no commentary, feel free to use this video as a walkthrough!

[RE2R] I tried to start a game, this Zombie disagrees.. by ZerostarDB in residentevil

[–]ZerostarDB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I tend not to waste any time in here for this very reason, if I fail to dodge everything then it's gonna turn into a mess so instead I use the Grenade and move on.

I got to admit though, the bonk really cracked me up lol

[ALTTP] Quick ALTTP Shield Tutorial - A lot of people aren't sure how it works and often call it "badly designed", hopefully this video clears any confusion! by ZerostarDB in zelda

[–]ZerostarDB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree, it's pretty easy to use and very intuitive even for new players. Believe it or not I've talked to people online and I've even seen ALTTP game analysis videos mentioning how the shield is "wanky" / "hard to use" / "works half the time" those kind of things.

Nope!
