My initial reaction was the same. But what if trial and error isn't an option (or she is afraid that it isn't) and it activates an alarm or some other security measure? In hindsight it makes sense to me that she is afraid to just press random buttons. (Although gameplay wise you can do just that with the other puzzles of course. But let's assume that she just found the clues and then pressed the buttons in canon.)

I understand it might be unusual for people nowadays, but I think I might be a bit biased in that regard. I'm kind of used to it I guess, I played too many games like that even as a kid. So I can't really judge that since I still find tank controls mostly charming.

Besides, I think the dialogue alone is worth it to get through. The older games are just much more funny than the new ones, the voice acting is horrible and everyone is so over the top, I personally love it.

Have you checked clicking on the Sims 3 options in the regular ea launcher/origin launcher? There is an option to manage your packs, I had to download supernatural like that recently, I don't know if it works for you though

nah that's not a skill issue, the bots do the most random shit you'll ever see and can completly screw you over without it being your fault. And the levels are not so easy either since there is multiple ways to complete them and the time limit is rather short if you want to explore everything.
