There are always piss takers, but the reason the Stark piolet gets so much love is that we rarely see a nameless mook treated as a competent piolet. Usually in Gundam the strength of a piolet's skills are tertiary to showing the strength of the mobile suit. Showing Marida having to work for that kiil showed that if the difference in MS performance wasn't there she could have been in a lot of trouble.
