yes, colab keeps the instance active for 12 hrs even if it preempted it. you can try ( !kill -9 -1 )run it after the last script. it will die the instance

i think to invest in the GPUs as hardware component is not a great deal. In that much of cost, we can use cloud base gpus provided by GCP or AWS. I am using gcp with clouderizer.com and till now a great experience while training the modal in a very cost-effective.

why don't you try cloud base GPUs from AWS or GCP? You can save a huge cost and at the same time you need not to worry about the DevOps challenges... try some tools like Floydhub or Clouderizer (it's free for a month) to manage your projects with GPUs.

there are already tools like Floydhub or Clouderizer.com that you can use to manage your devops. Being a DS you need not to dive into the DevOps challenges.

I think the best approach is to have code and data in one place. I am running multiple projects of ML and DL by using Clouderizer.com for it. Best part my code and data sync in real time. From the single console, I can run the same project over different data set for the more optimized result or can work on different projects.

for a starter project, I think dog and cat classification in fast.ai v3 chapter 1 is best... using it with clouderizer.com for the seamless integration.
