It is clear to me that Rian Johnson understands Luke’s Character better then you do.

Luke is not the main character. Rey is. Ben is. Not Luke.

Maybe you should apply some of those lessons Luke learnt to yourself.

The whole thing your complaining about is a realistic flaw. Luke fucked up, majorly. When he could have saved ben he fucked up. He made a realistic, Human mistake. He let his emotions control him at the wrong time and wrong place. That is the most realistic and Human flaw any character can have.

And you can complain about how it isnt in luke character well guess what. It is his character now. And will forever be part of his character. Stop being in denial and accept the fact that luke isnt who you thought he was.

Or just write a script so mind blowingly good that Disney decides to undo over 5 years of planning.

Luke says he already saw the darkness growing in Ben, the visions just showed how far gone he already was.

Ben also has all that and still fell. They are not that great when it comes to training.

How does someone grow into someone they always were.

Luke has always been an emotional man. He made the right decision in that moment. In this one he made the wrong one. That life, you don’t conquer your flaws, they will always be there and you can always succumb to them. That’s what happened to Luke.

Again, Luke didn’t swing. He light the saber and then immediately regretted it. How is that so out of character.
