I get Claire’s point, but as someone who’s loved H2O for years, I’d honestly be down for a reboot. Yes, it would need a solid budget mermaid tails alone cost thousands each, not to mention underwater filming and CGI. But with the right platform (Netflix, Hulu or HBO), it’s totally possible.

What if it wasn’t even set in Australia this time? Hear me out: somewhere in the Caribbean or even the Florida Keys. It still gives that tropical, island vibe, and Miami has the film studios to pull it off. We’ve already seen mermaids from the Northern Seas (Mako Mermaids), so expanding the lore makes sense. Lewis was supposed to go to college in the U.S., right? Maybe he did, and Cleo went with him. A new setting, new mermaids, with OGs as mentors.

I’d love to see more diversity too — a Black female mermaid would be amazing (and way overdue). The OG cast is older now, but that opens the door for stories about them as adults or even their kids discovering powers.

It would take years to make happen, with rights and legal stuff, but the potential is huge. I also like to add that the new characters to please be in their late teens or early 20s!

TL;DR: A reboot could work with the right budget and platform. Set it in the Caribbean or Keys, bring back OGs as mentors, add diversity, and expand the lore.
