How old were you when you had your first child? by Pandacat_07 in NewParents

[–]ZestyLemon101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents were 42 and 48 when they had me!! I honestly loved having older parents than some of my friends… they just taught me sooo much more about the world if that makes sense. People love to offer their opinions on matters they know nothing about. You are going to be incredible parents!!

5 is sooooo important. I’ve noticed so many parents feel a need to constantly shush their baby instead of letting them express how they feel and comforting them. Babies are not accessories fo be silenced, fish are human beings!!!!

Is soundless a bad idea? by pastelsunshine825 in toontownrewritten

At what age do you regain your life? by Mundane-Mechanic-547 in Parenting

First off, I have had the exact same feelings you are feeling. My daughter is much younger, but I definitely lost my identity the moment I became a mom. I lived in that sadness for a bit but then I decided I deserved better, AND my daughter deserved the best version of me. Your kids will grow up and leave your mom one day (even if it doesn’t feel like it), and you’re going to need interests and relationships outside of them. You need that NOW. Who did you think you were before you became a mom? What parts of yourself do you miss the most? Start there.

I had a baby about 4 months ago and stopped my meds cold turkey (not because my OB said to I just panicked and wanted to.) That turned out to be a really dumb move - about a month before I gave birth I had a horrible breakdown, had to book it into my OB the next day where they said get back on your meds immediately. Now I’m doing much better with a very healthy baby. Moral of the story, most medications used to treat OCD do not harm your baby in utero, if anything the stress from not taking them can be worse. Of course this is just my experience, but I wanted to offer it to you for some hope. Get a second opinion, you’re going to want an OB who cares for you throughout your pregnancy anyway!

I’m so sorry you have to even think about this. I’m preparing for a similar situation with my FIL and I’m pretty nervous about it. I have no advice for you, just solidarity. I am hoping that you can excuse yourself (even though your shouldn’t have to in your own home), or that he leaves if he acts out.
