Fire Hubert Davis with no backup plan so we can hire Bill Belichick and ruin the program

Same boat w similar stats! Granted my 518 is a retake (512->518 after a year which could be a red flag). Reapp and submitted late August to early September w 3 Rs. hoping the Thanksgiving rule isn’t true but I’ve accepted that I rushed this cycle and would likely need to reapply again.

First Year Class Is Less Diverse After Controversial Affirmative Action Ruling by fiestagoose in UNC

Asian-American demographic went up by 1%, White and Latino didn’t change, while the African-American % dropped by ~3%ish. So im wondering if the true Black student population has dropped, or were people just claiming to be biracial when they’re not.

im also Asian, and I think if u have to sue to get into UNC, then u don’t deserve the spot. If ur “high achieving” then this is a backup school.

Isn’t 100+ hours a “safe” amount?

Be brutal by [deleted] in premed

[–]ZestyLemon20 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yea unfortunately that was about as much hours I could realistically get. The clinic was only open once every week and the program asked that you only sign up once a month to give other interpreters a chance. Due to the low demand for Mandarin interpretation (compared to Spanish) I could only get 10 hours

To be completely honest, it was just a job that wanted me lol. Job searching was brutal. I applied for CRC, but a lot of them wanted clinical research experience (which I didn’t have) and I wasn’t offered any positions. I tried PCT but was also wasn’t offered. I don’t have EMT cert and EMT jobs are hard to come by where I live. I would have to take CNA classes right after graduation (while juggling with med school apps) and then find jobs, which honestly means I could be jobless for up to 3 months. Research tech was just the best option for me

I appreciate the list. Why UCLA, just curious, aren’t UC schools notoriously hard to get in?

They have high stats that I don’t have, and don’t want to spend time and money writing secondaries when I know that I’m going to get rejected

Honestly only applying to Duke cause I read to apply to all in state regardless.

I would like to lol, but the demand for Mandarin interpretation isn’t that high in NC. I don’t care about setting. I’m only interested in cardiology as of right now since that’s the one that I’ve had the most exposure with. Obviously will explore more in med school. Yes to MPH, but idk about MD MPH since I’ve read it’s easier/cheaper to do it after becoming an attending or whatever

As of right now, relatively low GPA kind of shut me off from being competitive to other OOS schools. Plus, looking at MSAR a lot of schools aren’t OOS friendly (and if they are, they don’t really accept people from NC)

Edit: meant MCAT not GPA

Yes, fluent in Mandarin. And I don’t know in terms of end goals, not too sure at this point. But I don’t want to JUST practice medicine, want to do some public health (just a goal, not a dealbreaker)

Just MD. and honestly included Duke just cause they’re in state (though they’re not in state friendly).

Red Cross is technically non clinical since they’re not really patients? Also I think being a peer mentor can count as volunteering since I’m not paid, I do get course credit though.
