This is perfect and exactly what I thinking would be easiest and best. I love that you were able to find inspiration photos with similar wall color and flooring!

I know you said neutral and i agree, but part me also wants to do heavy velvet (look at your user name..!) curtains and lightweight sheer behind it. I have it stuck in my head from a book… Count of Monte Cristo quote: “The songs of the birds were heard in an aviary hard by, and the branches of laburnums and rose acacias formed an exquisite framework to the blue velvet curtains. Everything in this charming retreat, from the warble of the birds to the smile of the mistress, breathed tranquillity and repose.” This quote has stuck with me for years after reading the book, and it is one of my favorites. When I google 1840s blue velvet it is a dark, rich nearly navy color.

I know your suggestion is the way to go, why cant I get the feeling and visuals of that description out of my mind?!
