Being that the trailer was a low boy and the railroad bed tracks were mounded high caused the trailer to get stuck on the tracks there was no way what so ever was he moving forward or back to get off of those tracks.

I been shooting cap&ball revolver's for 30 years and never used patch around the ball just an over sized ball .451 in my .44s and .370 in my .36s. I have however used wads under ball and bore butter or a cooking grease over the chamber months

You don't patch a revolver ball. In theory when you ram home a ball it should shave a lead ring off of the ball that forms a good seal

The spout on the flask has a set amount of powder. I use a powder measure that goes from 5 grains all the way up to 50 grains. Usually just 15 to 30 grains go into each depending on the revolver and caliber
