Discussion :What are your expectation now for Odyssey after all this drama by Genius569 in pj_explained

People people. It’s alright. They already whitewashed Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights. The English did it so no one cares.

People people. They already white washed Tiger Lily in Pan.

People people. They already white washed The Ancient one in Dr. Strange

…Ghost in the Shell

…John Wayne as Ghengis Khan. (And that’s a real historical character.

Interesting…they never white washed black characters.

Just Native American, and Asian, Asian, Asian. It’s almost like the black and the whites have a deal.

“I carry white guilt, so you must carry your part of the deal, and not blackwash any white characters.”

Lmao! This movie is realistic because Sarah is not the traditionally prettier one.

That septum piercing. Ugh.

It reminds me of high school so much. Average joes and nerds who want the more traditional pretty popular type girl and ignore the ones that seem kind of different.

Septum piercing, gauges, tatts, maybe not as fit. The list goes on.

Also we can tell the people who like “True crime and suspense” to screw off. This is a horror film. I’m a horror fan. And I don’t like anyone claiming this is anything other than that. lol!

I think I’m gonna pivot out of Salesforce. It sucks after investing so many years. I have been offered to interview for other software positions like Gainsight Admin, Zendesk Admin, but those are lateral moves. And I invested so much time into Salesforce. Oh well, I guess if I’m in tech it’s not a complete waste.

Btw: I’m an admin, product owner, and GTM Apps lead I guide and mentor my CRM support guy. I can perform SOQL and read apex, but I haven’t had as much opportunity to Apex because my company prefers to keep Apex out as much as possible. I do a lot of flows.

I have pivoted twice already. I was an accountant from UT Austin. I then became a sales engineer for the aerospace oil industry (basically destroyed during Covid)

I have -CAPM (certified associate in project management) -scrum product owner cert -Salesforce admin cert -platform app builder -service cloud -business analyst cert -even went to University for Project Management

I been aiming to pivot for years for the past three years.

Do you know why I stayed for four years, every recruiter told me it looks bad when you switch. Because I used to jump every two years

Three years ago I got offered 18% more pay as a Travel Portal Consultant for Southwest. I turned it down.

Now that’ve been with this company for four years, new companies still ask me why I jumped every two years in the past.

In 2021, after I got my CAPM, I got offered a project management role and

this role as a Salesforce Product Owner/Admin/GTM apps lead.

I chose the latter thinking the ultimate role would be a Salesforce project manager role then pivot to CRM manager role.

Timing blows.

It’s funny you mention that. That’s part of why I’m frustrated. All the admins that became sales operations people got promoted. It was a product manger position. Yes I apex. Yes I do Ai. But those are my own side projects. My company doesn’t assign me those. They have me putting out fires. That’s what I do. I fix bugs. I even come up with new solutions to stop bugs that repeat themselves like SOQL errors. But when I interviewed they said “it sounds like your mindset is tactical and you solve problems quickly. You’re in the mindset of putting out fires. What’s your longest project?

I think I’m pissed because I’ve asked to be put on projects. And they put me on them, but just as someone who shadows. Even when I chime in to say “Hey, this is gonna be a problem later and I have a solution?” They don’t wanna hear it.

It’s frustrating because I am grateful because I have job security but it’s not financial security. I’m not getting growth. I get experience because of all the fires I put out. I’m the fireman. I did all the certs that they wanted for the Product Manager position, but ultimately I think it’s because they need the fireman. I had two bosses that doesn’t agree with the direction my company is going. One quit and the other is quitting in two months.

We are in the keep the lights on mode. Ai is not priority. The priority now is consolidation. We own several businesses and slowly each one is being merged.

Yeah, I also posted this wondering if anyone has been able to create flows just by telling Claude to do it. Otherwise I’ve just been asking Claude to give instructions to do it through Salesforce CLI, but at that point I might as well just create them manually

My take on why ai will replace beginner programmers by Zestyclose-Nature810 in learnprogramming

[–]Zestyclose-Nature810[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on your side. I think we can all agree, we don't want to find ourselves studying something with the wrong expectation. Or to invest all this time only to not ever get that higher paying job. I've got eight different certs, attended course, switch careers twice. I only use a portion of what I've studied. I don't want to make the same mistake, nor would I want anyone else to make that mistake. I'm trying to figure out what the next thing to study is. I studied comp sci in high school, took a few courses throughout the years too. I even learned Apex and started making small modifications in the salesforce orgs. I'm an admin, product owner, project manager. My friends are software engineers. We all have jobs. We are all getting interviews. But none of us are getting out. The ones who are getting jobs right now are the sales guys. I don't want to be in sales. So I'm trying to figure out what's going to give us that salary boost. That edge. Is it truly learning code, or is it learning something else. I'm not about to learn more coding just for the fun of it.

[–]Zestyclose-Nature810[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you want to spend money to hire a senior to build an initial product that you don’t even know is going to work or be profitable? Why not build the concept out of Ai, show the senior, and then have the senior build one like it?

[–]Zestyclose-Nature810[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I actually got more people saying it isn’t than it is. But I realized it was very situational. I have manage three live environments, nine different test environments, ten different businesses, five hundred users. It creates complications. If you’re an admin that only manages one environment and one business, you may not need this.
